if the frame is powder coated you can powder coat on top of the origonal coating provided you clean/degrease the surface

Shawn, Both the frame and swing arm were powder coated originally. However, the age of the powder, thickness and cure cycle all contribute to the coatings toughness. The frames are made and powder coated in Italy with a powder supplied by a US manufacturer called Tiger-Drylac. The newer designed swingarm is made in Japan. I'm not sure where the coating is applied. Anyway, removing the coating is always a pain in the a**. If you get into a bind, give me a call. I do it all the time. Pete 732-722-2955.

What are the seat support rails painted or powder coated? I need to do something with these they are scratched from the saddlebags. I was thinking of linex or something. How do I get the paint off of these?

Hey Tankhead, They are also powder coated. Let me know if you need help. I'm only 40 miles up the GSP from you. Pete
