Thanks man! Yeah, it looks worse than it is because it was just starting to sprinkle and the pavement was just getting wet. But you're right, its mostly just stoplight to stoplight on the mean DC streets, and the weather hasn't really cooperated enough for a dry weekend cruise in the twisty VA countryside.

Not too concerned though, as I've got a strada rear at home that is just itching for some action!

Where did you get the brackets for those bags?

Can you post pics of how the brackets mount? I've been thinking of doing this to mine, but only if I can remove them when I'm not burning up the highway.

On another note, I don't think you'll ever need those swingarm sliders with those bags, lol.

I think if I ever need that much stuff to take with me, I'll go Greyhound.

JPgrego - Brackets are from Hepco and Becker via their US distributor. I ordered them from twistedthrottle.com.

1324 - I'll try to post some more pics of the mounting brackets. You have to lengthen and relocate the rear signals (with hardware supplied in the kit) and remove the rider peg assemblies (not exactly "quick change" if u want to put them back on, but not really permanent either). That said, the main parts of the brackets are removable. the "lock-it" system allows you to turn 8 bolts about 1/4 turn to remove all but the L brackets at the pass peg location and the turn signal/rear support bracket. It would take one allen wrench and about 5-7mins to remove 85% of the bracketry.

The sliders may not be useful on the trip there, but they could still be useful after I arrive at Deal's Gap and take the bags off!

Frankfast - I actually hopped on the hound overnight from DC to KY to go buy the bike and ride it home a few years ago. That was my first and last time going Greyhound!

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. I don't use the passenger pegs since my wife refuses to ride on the back of that thing. Can you mount the brackets without the cheese grater tail piece?

Good looking bike. Always nice to see a tricked out CityX. Who says you need a ULY to get bagging done? (pic withheld because apparently I am a postwh@re)

Was wondering how long it would take you to show up, Cityxslicker. Your bag setup + my desire for some long trips this summer provided the basic motivation to add bags to mine in the first place!

Ive got some new MX style low flat bars w/ new traction grips in the works, and want to look into that "hidden" ducati rear brake caliper too. Then I'll be done... well I'll probably be done then.

Good eye, Gjm. snapped a couple of quick pics last wknd in the AutoZone parking lot just before it started raining. I live in Chinatown and am around town pretty frequently. If its reasonable on Saturday or Sunday, I'm planning on heading out to Old Glory to pick up the free neck gaiter. You're more than welcome to come with if you're interested...

Froggy - The brackets seem to be of pretty good quality. The install was also pretty straightforward, though you should bone up on your German first! at least there are plenty of pictures in the instruction booklet. Overall, well worth it!

I liked that the brackets were "quick release" but since I put the bags on there, they havent come off. They are just too damn practical; and they have saved my bacon a couple of time on the trails as impromptu frame protectors. Let the riding season begin.

My only complaint was that rear cross-member that bolted to the back of the cheese grater and the back of the bag mount squares. The tapped holes on my set were just a little bit off, and I stripped out two of those TINY allen-head bolts. I'll probably replace them with hex head bolts at some point.

did the hard ware store replacement before install. My German is no good, but I think fat fingers and small threads equal stripped everytime. +1 for blue loctite.

Coop and Cityxslicker,
1st Coop tanks soooo much for posting the pics. I am in the middle of ordering the juniors or the journeys from twisted throttle. I notice that their web site does not have a working page for the top rack. Did you look into this? Cityx what model and make is your top rack. I was going to get the ULY but I think I will just keep my city-x because I love it soo much. Let me know all that you can about your set up. tanks guys I do appreciate your time.

The top rack itself is a Ventura rack, American Sportbike has them. my top case is the upper half of the H&B Sport Star Trunk. When I am running all three, I have more storage space than a Harley ULTRA.
Heres the pic fully loaded link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/333874.html?1202061887#POST1063471

Also, whether you order from Twistedthrottle or Eurotech, the brackets still come from Eurotech in CA. I believe they are H&B's primary US agent.

I myself did not look into the top rack. The uly/journey bags are HUGE, and I think that anything else I would need that didnt fit in the bags will likely bungee nicely to the seat and brackets.

Tanks for the quick responses. cityx did you have to buy the whole ventura package or could you just buy the frame and rack??? and also did you have to modify anything other than the lights to fit both systems on the bike(ventura and HB racks)????? tanks

yeah, we cut the ventura rack and levelled it, made it flat so it can carry the sport trunk. then painted it black of course. I can disappear for days with camping gear, clothes, riding gear, spare parts and it strips down fast enough for the twisties.

Where did you cut it? Height wise on the rack or the L brackets???Do the L brackets interfere with the HB brackets? How did you buy it just the rack?
Coop: Did you buy the buell bags separtely from a dealer and then buy the racks from twistedthrottle and if so did you sell the brackets that come with the buell bags? I just bought the racks from a buell dealer and now I will have the racks to sell on here? Let me know......tanks

She's got wide rear end, that's for sure. I can store lots of stuff, but its getting tougher to cut lanes in the city.

Tank - I picked up the bags used from a badwebber who droped his Uly for a Duc. I believe he sold the brackets to someone else. Buying the bags new is just crazy expensive. The brackets came seperately from twistedthrottle, but they fit fine because they work with pretty much every bag H&B makes.

The things you can do with a grinder wheel, a welder, a friend with a full garage of tools and fab, can of rattle black, half case of beer and 1 pizza. It was a custom cut for that application, if you are not running the sport trunk you dont have to cut it. The Givi should mount right up to it, but talk to the guys at American for fitment of those, its their product.

Coop,
How is the bike with the bags on? Any change in handling? Overall impressions? I am going to be buying the Junior Flash series instead but I wondered if the 40's will be TOO big and maybe scale down to the 30's. What do you think? Any pics of the mounts without the bags? tanks for your time.
