dang, what an awesome idea. how about an xb 9 TT ! ? would'nt that be the "shit "? i think so , "softer " low end power for fire roads & mud etc. think they would build it if enough of us asked for it ?(it's a shame that awesome motor is not being utilized like it should be !)

Ideally I want TT forks and a long swingarm on my CityX, but there is no easy way to do this swap without machining spacers for the subframe and shock.

After many failed attempts at a shorter profiled exhaust, I have decided to raise the bike up an inch. I will be using the TT front fork springs, and a Shockworks gas shock for the rear, I havent decided if I am going to the longer swingarm of the tt.

Cityxslicker, I think everyone on BadWeB has seen those pictures of your bike at least once a week for about two years.

Badlionsfan - the Long swing arm will bolt up, but you need the following:

Long Rear Fender
Long Belt guard
Long Rear brake line
Rear shock or spacer for stock shock
Long Sidestand
Long Belt
Long Idler pulley

Also, the rear subframe needs to be spaced an inch or so, so that the shock doesn't hit the undertail at compression.

If someone made a shock that would bolt to the Long swing arm and the short frame that was technically correct in terms of valving and length I would do the conversion tomorrow. However, the only thing people like EricZ who have done the conversion have done is make a spacer for the stock shock, but because of the different shock angle, the valving and shock length aren't ideal. Also, it is not as easy as bolting up a "Long" or TT shock, as the reservoir hose is in the wrong location and the mounting location is different between the Long frame and standard frame...

I suppose I do bring that on myself. And yes I do play in the MUD with the CityX. I am surprised more ULY guys dont. beginning to think I should just put 50k on the bike and trade it in on the XB12Stt and bring my accessories with me. (mainly my bags, ventura rack, gel seat, blast bars, and touratech bash plate. Maybe by then there will be some decent lights on it too.

a 9 tt? why do all this swap of body parts to get what you want. Get a tt and swap the motor to the 9.
there you go everything you want in a tt but with a 9 motor.

Its all good natured fun. I suppose I am not the first to poke fun at my bike and the way I ride it. Gawd knows the techs in the shop cant understand the abuse I put it through. Its in my nature, I just cant resist big chunky gobs of thick mud and puddles. Besides it keeps me out of therapy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=714-Ioa4XQw

i'd like to see the "Motor co." build & sell a XB 9 tt. all those other 12 powered machines seem kinda redundant. i can run rings around a ulysses with my 9 !( in the dirt , parking lot "cross" etc.)

Cityxslicker, I never get tired of those pictures--every time I see them I get a little closer to adding a "9" to my stable, right next to the Uly.

I don't want the Long frame. I want the short frame with the long swing arm and the standard frame front fork geometry for quicker steering. I don't like the TTs more relaxed front geometry.

If someone e-mailed me today and said, I have the shock that will work to mate your long swing arm and short frame, I would do this swap tomorrow.

I have long said that I would PAY EXTRA to walk a bike through the line and get all the parts that I wanted direct from the factory. Corvette does it, the Saleens do it. I figure you pay the extra "VIP" upgrade and get the suspension, colors, power plant, bars, seat the way you want it. All from existing parts bins...
It would end up being the XB12Stt with black engine cases, blast bars, in Valencia Orange, uly heavy wt wheels. Had they had the TT when I bought, that would have been the bike in the garage.
