XB9S: Street fighter 984cc
XB9SX: Steet fighter "Urban Assault Bike" 984cc
XB9SL: "Lowered" Street fighter 984cc

All of which have the same 984cc engine.

I believe I was in former the 9SX(CityX) was simply geared lower. Is that its only definative mechanical characteristic?

As I have read the XB9SL is the same as the regualr XB9S but with a lowered suspension.
Correct?

And the If the original XB9S is the platform and the XB9R is its mechanically identical twin, the XB9SL suspension applied to the XB9R would be an improvement due to a lower COG.

or am i just mentally assembling a factory 9R all over again?

XB9SX has more suspension travel then the XB9S, and it has the bigger forks. I think the gearing was the same.

The numbers you need to look at are the ground clearance for the XB9r and the XB12Scg, NOT the seat height. If the Scg gets you lower to the ground then order the parts to get R dun. IIRC its only an inch, and about 600 bucks to get there

Are you sure the CityX (XB9SX) is geared lower? Also, the increase in suspension travel is negligible.

I think you are right, same gearing (across all the 9's), and slightly larger fork tubes relative to the other XB9's in 05. I think those larger tubes became standard across all the bikes on 06.
