I really like the looks of the Barricade Orange and White number plate of the STT, but feel the Ss may fit me better, I am 5'10" is there really that much difference between the two bikes size wise? Also, what is a good OTD price for these two models, I was interested in an 08 Ulysses and the best I could do on that was $11,200 OTD, and the Ulysses is between 1000-1200 higher than these two bikes. | ||

Personally, I would go with the STT between the two. You can probably work a better deal, and the suspension is better than the SS. Many people don't know what to make of them, so the demand is lower. The color combinations add to that. If you had the chance to get an SS or STT and didn't care about the differences, you'd probably opt for the one with passenger accommodations and the more attractive color. | ||

Extra clearance, hand guards, light guards, more aggressive tires, and no high speed whine from the back of the bike.... XB12STT, had they had that bike when I was buying, THAT would be the orange bike that I would be flogging out on the trails. | ||

I'll add my vote for the STT. I had ridden the SS in '06, and I liked it. I test rode the STT in '07, and I bought it that day. I think it's a fantastic bike that handles urban streets and bumpy back roads with unbelievable composure. Sometimes I actually forget that I'm on a rough, bumpy curve as I roll right through at a brisk pace. The suspension and handling are fabulous on the STT.  | ||

I have an Stt and love it other than the somewhat strange colors that Buell decided on. Orange & White? looks like a yard sale bike. I'm changing over to all white as that looks better. I got mine at a great deal but they only had the one with the orange airbox. I got it because the roads here bite! BUT the Stt goes like there's no tomorrow! Tracks where I point it, sucks up the bumps like a sponge, Stop strait and true. Plus like all Buells bulls like a tractor! I'm 5'11" and am on toes at time but it's not bad. I think the biggest difference in reach is the seat. It's thickly padded but firm...just like a good dirt bike's seat SHOULD be! OH did I say it goes gang busters in the dirt? Slow down for dirt?? Heck grab a big handful and speed up! Birdy P.S. You know CityXslicker really REALLY needs one of these! | ||

HAD Buell had XB12STT bike when I spent the money, THAT would have been my bike. I did mine in March of 2006, 6 months before they announced the XB12STT. I am still steamed about it.  Heres a pic of her day 1  | ||

STT, no doubt about it. It turns in faster/easier, is more comfy, and is easier to ride the twisties when the road gets bumpy. | ||

Are you getting into the dirt? STT. Are you never leaving pavement? Ss. I've got 65K on my SS now; I'm 5'10" and it's the only Buell (other than Uly) that fits me comfortably. But if you do get an Ss, REPLACE THE DAMN GEL SADDLE. Good for 60 miles, tops. Then you gotta walk the ache away. | ||

Here's a different point of view and to answer your first question: 1. The TT has the Ss frame, same room for you. Different seat but I've gone 4 hours on the TT seat and was comfortable. 2. The TT has the tires (Ulysses..) that are good enough for 99% of us riders out here on the street AND better for getting caught in the rain or going down a dirt or gravel road. I test rode each to evaluate the tires and on a dirt and pea gravel road the TT tires inspired a lot more confidence than the tires found on the other models. And when you hit potholey roads, the TT rocks ! Remember, there is a good bit of adjustability in the suspension to suit your tastes. 3. Everything else between the 2 is basically swappable so getting the look you want just takes a few $$. 4. Not sure on the dealing, but my local dealership was getting out of the Buells and I was able to get mine PLATED @ OUT THE DOOR for under $10K...I think it was like 8300 + all the other stupid charges.... I'm amused by the criticism I see here regarding the Ss' stock saddle. I found it one of the most comfortable stock saddles I've ever sat on, and I've done all day rides on it. My only complaint was that it was TOO low and bent up my knees too much when I was riding. I switched to the Sport Seat mostly because I liked the color-matched sunset orange on the back portion. I was pleasantly surprised to see the sport saddle added some height so my knees aren't kinked up as much. I find the new seating position much more comfortable while riding. The downside is the seat is a LOT firmer than the stock saddle so unless I'm attacking twisties or riding on the track, my butt starts to get sore after about two hours or so. The stock saddle also made it difficult to slide from side to side, making cornering aggressively a bit harder than it should be. The sport saddle allows me to slide from side to side unhampered. I hear the touring saddle is lower than the stock saddle. That's great for people who spend most of their time with their feet on the ground, I suppose... and maybe for younger folks who don't mind their knees up under their chins. But I think I'll stick with the taller sport saddle and just wiggle around a bit more on the highway. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam. | ||

i got an '07 Ss and am in love. i sold an '03 Dyna to get it. never ridden the TT but was not impressed with the look of it.( now if it was all black) I got the Touring Saddle and aggee it is way stiffer. Would go back to the stock if it didnt have a massive rip in it. my next tires will be the TT tread, and have been thinkin about the hand guards for the cold weather, but other then that wouldn't change anything... actually i have the tail piece eliminator and Pro Taper tall Quad bars and am pretty happy with the ride possition. | ||

I took an Ss for a ride and liked it better than my Scg. I'm going to trade for one or try to sell mine and buy one. |
