anyone running the buell tank mask? the leather one from dealer for about 30 bucks complaints? like it? | ||

I think I have the one you are talking about. It came on the bike when I got it. It looks nice, and protects the airbox from getting scrathed up by a zipper. Mine has worn on the airbox a little, so it really didnt protect it much. I Would remove it since I want some stompgrips, but the air box looks horrible without it since it left rub marks on it  . | ||

Rub marks - yes. I hope they will polish out if I ever decide to get rid of the cover. | ||

When I have installed tank bags/masks before, I found the spots that they would rub the tank and applied some clear number plate background (ala moto-x bikes) to protect those areas....just a thought. | ||

Because the clear vinyl doesn't lay down perfectly over all curves. It is easier and more appealing just to apply to areas that need protecting and cover with the better looking mask. As I also said, I used it for tank bags as well. Clear vinyl is a very poor container for trip goodies. | ||

I bought the polished aluminum buckle cover, I love it. Looks good on the carbon. | ||

I have one of those masks. I like mine very much. I think it looks good and the pocket works great if you use heated gear. I cut a small hole in the very bottom of that mesh pocket and run my SAE cord through there from under the seat. It's real easy access. It's always ready when I need it and it hides out of sight really well when it's not. | ||

I have the air box cover bra (I think that's what it's called). I love it. When I clean my bike I make sure to cover the entire cover with Plexxus once done and put the bra back on. I make sure the inside of the bra (the part that actually makes contact with the plastic) is clean before I put it back on too. I haven't experienced any rubbing or marks at all. | ||

Ohh I really like the look of the Tech Spec grip pads. They would blend in really well on my bike too since its black. | ||

Ohh I really like the look of the Tech Spec grip pads. They would blend in really well on my bike too since its black. I am thinking about getting the Snake Skin for the 1125r. Unlike the Cityx, some additional grip would be nice to keep the weight off my wrists. I am a little hesitant to cover up the beautiful blue frame, but I think it's worth it. BTW, for anyone interested I am sending Tech Spec a template for a custom cut Tank protector (modeled after the Buell aluminum Air Box trim). Right now all they carry other than the generic tank protector is some for Beemers. Not sure when they will officially add it to the product line, but give 'em a call in a week or so... The Snake Skin is 1/8 inch thick and the grippiest--but you would only notice the difference if you are a serious track day person or better. The Fusion is .035 inches thick and is like a rubberized grip tape (like the stuff we used for skateboards). Fusion is currently backordered. |
