My girlfriend got me new tires for festivus, thats good.I cant find the wheel chuck to remove the tires, thats bad. The tire mounting and balancing has already been paid for by said girlfriend, thats good. But I cant find a dealership that has a chuck in stock, thats bad. and american sportbike is closed till after the first. long story short I hate Harley Davidson and the service guys are so concerned about selling chrome they have lost touch with reality. I called several dealerships to just borrow one for the day offering to order one and leave a $100 deposit so if I never return they get the part and the cash, not good enough. then I went around to hardware stores to find a 7\8 allen or nut and I failed. just wanted to rant and maybe get advice on what to do and were to go. |

What part are you looking for exactly? The nut that goes in the axle to remove it? When I hear the word chuck theres too many variations... |

Go to the nut &bolt store, i'm sure you have one and get the 7/8 sized head. then two other nuts on one end double nutted style toghether. get your boxed end wrench on there and go to town. |

the end of a sparkplug socket works too. just put a 3/8 extension in the opposite end of the socket and away you go. |

You can visit any equipment rental house that sells large tools to contractors and pick up a beefy allen wrench.I have replaced many tires with this allen and with the help of a cheeter bar with no problems.

I forgot to mention that it only cost me @17 bucks. I suspend my bike from a pulley mounted in the garage and take the rims to the local Gixer dealer which leads to many questions and hi fives, they really dig the Buells down South this away. |

Use the back end of a spark plug wrench, like was mentioned above. I've never even considered buying a giant allen wrench, but I think I might now, just to have a "Binford 7000" in the garage. Josh, you live in Wildomar, WHY have I just now learned this? Me and Mcgiver (Brian) ride over Ortega to the Elsinore side every Sunday, we should hook up some time. We need more Buells at the lookout on a Sunday morning. Two weeks ago, we actually had FOUR up there, which is the most I've seen at one time. Seriously, let's ride sometime. I have friends in your neighborhood, and I can always use more. My phone number is on my web page, which is found in my profile, hit me up if you like. I'll be up the hill this Sunday again. We depart from our side at 8:00am, hit the lookout around 8:20 or a little after. |
