is the HD fuel additive any good ,is a carbon remover or a octane booster? I don't think HD would sell an octane booster as they are supposed to runin o2 sensors

That's the stuff that contains DurAlt, correct? I just buy the DurAlt. I've been using it in all of my air-cooled twins since 1990. It really isn't an octane booster. It keeps the combustion chamber clean which prevents carbon build up. Excess carbon can increase compression and create hot spots, so continued use of DurAlt will prevent pre-ignition on older engines once it's cleaned out the chamber.

There are various SAE reports on DurAlt, you can google it if you like. I haven't really found that it does much in my water-cooled bikes but it certainly seems to help in my air-cooled ones.
