Is it possible (even with a bit of modification) to swap an XB12R taillight/ plate bracket onto a XB12S or XB12Ss?

Why not just chop your cheese grater off??

Much easier to do. The firebolt uses the EXACT same tail lamp lens. but mounts in the undertray. That undertray will not fit under a S tail. Converting to an R tail can be done but is not cheap or all that easy.

Thanks, that is what I suspected. I just hate to cut up OEM parts, especially such a nice aluminum casting.

Buy one from Odie, he is a sponsor of Badweb.

Special ops is the Biz name.

My bike was dropped, breaking off the tag mount.I cut the cheese grater section off and bought a tag mount off ebay. Then I painted the whole thing the same color as the frame.Turned out awesome but it destroys the tag if you start messing around.

the nice alum housing is ugly as hell just like almost every other bike out there....when in doubt dont hesitate and get the SAW ZAW out. I remember when i saw mine on the show room floor and told my wifey..." that is going away soon"

Chop it off and paint it. It really cleans up the bike. Just watch your plate location. One big wheelie and mine got torn off and rolled up like a taco. I had to change the angle of my plate and all is well now. Except of course the license plate I pounded back straight.

Ditto on the Special Ops tail for replacing the cheesegrater -- looks good!
