I'm doing the cheese grater hack on my Lightning and need to evaluate whether to make my own license plate bracket or buy. And if I buy, I need to know which one.

Does anyone have any pictures? I only know of Dark Horse Moto and American Sport Bike...so the more options, the better.

Thanks!

Cut one out of an aluminum road sign. That's what I did.

If you want one that will hold turn signals as well, I got this one off of ebay and it works just fine.

I just drilled new holes in the license plate and mounted it straight to the bike without a bracket. Then just bend it down a little to make it readable.

Thanks for the pics everyone! Thanks for the offer Bads1, but I think I'm gonna get something with turn signal provisions. I was originally going to get the integrated turn signals, but I've decided that my money should go to something else since I have perfectly good operational turns.

Rah, do you have more pics of that ebay bracket on your bike? Based on those pics on the auction, I may go with that one if it looks good installed on a Buell.

IronMachine make a nice SS unit in either wrinkle black or polished.
It has turn signal mounting & hardware included.
Fitted up nice to my Special Ops tail

I really like the Iron Machine one in wrinkle black...it will save me from powder coating that as well. Do you remember how much it cost you? I just sent them an email because I was unable to find it on their site.

It's all yours, Mxer83. As nice as it is (and it is nice), I'd like to have a bracket that will mount my turn signals so I don't have to drill holes in my tail piece.

Does IronMachine sell that Bracket separate from their tail "kit"? If so, any ideas on the price?
TIA

I just called IronMachine. Long story short, they do sell those brackets, but they took the listing down because people were ordering the bracket expecting to receive the chopped tail. So, you can buy it: P/N XBSS.LB.SS . He will be putting up a special order link at the bottom of the page to order, possibly later today.

However, I won't be ordering it, because he's looking for $79.99 plus shipping. Sorry, but I can't justify that kind of money. If the Dark Horse Moto bracket had turn signal provisions, I'd be buying that one. As it stands, the American Sport Bike bracket is $45 and that Ebay one is around $20 or so....

Why would anyone expect that?

Okay, I understand.

These are the best shots I can dig up right now.

its just a simple little bracket, not very big at all. it just has slots for the top bolts on the license plate bracket, you have to have your own inspection sticker plate (like mine)

hope this helps

Thanks for the pics. I'll probably buy that one and see if it meets my needs. In NY, our inspection stickers go on the fork tube, so no problem with the sticker plate.
