Hi all I just a got a ticket. I have one more chance to take driving school in order for the points not to show up on my record. I was doing 48mph in a 30, the LEO wrote me up for not obeying traffic signal which only cost $123 vs. $180. Question: Should I save my last chance to take driving school for a bigger ticket. Has anyone seen their rates jump up after just one speeding ticket? This will be the first ticket to show up on my vechical record history. Thanks for your thoughts. | ||

Be low key... and more than likely ya won't get any bigger tickets. Also, ride with one or two buddies and most rangers won't mind nearly as much- most understand. I've got one speeding to my record, I was alone and in the city- my mistake. But out on twisties, cops don't mind as much. So I'd use it for this one... speeding with bike insurance I'm sure is gonna sting. ~Dunte | ||

If you are directed by a judge to go to traffic school, it doesn't count against your lifetime limit of five. At least that's the case in Florida. So you can either go to court and ask the judge to direct you, or do what I do: get a traffic lawyer to take care of it. Pick one from the lawyer postcards you got after the ticket. I get about one speeding ticket per year. I pay $85 and fax the lawyer my ticket. I never go to court; I just get a couple letters telling me when the court date is, and what happened. It's usually "adjudication withheld", and I pay court costs and sometimes go to traffic school. Sometimes it's cheaper than paying the ticket. One time the officer withdrew the ticket, and there was no cost other than the lawyer (it was a pretty weak ticket). Oh, and of course there's no points. The lawyers have this whole thing wired. Just pay them the money and let them deal with it. Dave |
