My girlfriend is thinking about getting a new XB12Scg. She loves the low seat height, and I love the idea of enjoying multi day riding/camping trips with her on her own bike. I also like the idea of taking her bike for an occasional ride whenever I feel like riding a bike with the power of my Uly, but the compactness the Scg offers.

I really enjoy the wind protection that my Cee Bailey +2.5" windscreen offers on my Uly. IMO it is a necessity on very long, multi day rides, where cold and fatigue can take it's toll.

Does anyone know of any offerings for somewhat small windscreens for the Scg? If I'm not mistaken, the following Buell models have the same flyscreen, and should all be interchangeable with the XB12Scg:

XB9SX
XB12TT
XB12S
Xb12Ss

Thanks in advance, everyone......

Look at the Cee Bailey for the XB9/12 too.

The dark color one are a bit ugly to me but some posted a photo of the clear one with the "Fly Screen" part painted and it looked good. Leaning that way myself as at 70+ I about get blown off the back!

I have one of these. It seems to do the job. I only get frustrated on really windy days--other than than that cruising at 80-85 is a breeze.

also Zero Gravity do a screen, same width as stock, but 4.5" taller. i have one on my 12Scg. it reduces windblast to the chest, but not so much on the shoulders. still makes a long ride more comfortable though.

Thanks for the responses, all.

This will help her (us) to make a decision as to weather she really wants to step up and buy her own bike. It's nice to know there are a few options out there reguarding windscreens on the XB's.

I have an SCG and have done long rides without any problems. I haven't tried a different windscreen so I have no comparison. But at 80+ mph for fairly long stretches, I haven't have any complaints about wind or head bobbing. Am 5'3" so don't know if that makes any difference

good luck in your decision making (it's a fun bike, lots of smiles)

Givi has a wide assortment of universal fairings, that would work well on a 12S.

I had a Uly extended wind screen on my S and it worked great. I overlaid the stock onto the extended and drilled four new mounting holes. Everyone seemed to like it. The only reason I stopped using it was because I had my bike custom painted and it didn't " fit in" with the theme.

I bought an extended carbon flyscreen for my XB12ss and it really reduced the helmet buffeting, for me at least--great look to it too!

Just installed a Uly Wind Screen on the wife`s xb12scg it made a good change for her and all, Have now just installed the Extended 4" Uly on same bike, I think that will block all the wind of her altogether... Too Bad the driveway is getting full of SNOW...!

I put a Ulysses Flyscreen and Windshield on my Scg.

The Uly flyscreen is about two inches taller than the stocker. The windshield probably gives you another four inches or so on top of that.

I was thinking about putting a Uly flyscreen on my CityX. Did it just bolt right on the Scg, or did you have to do any modifications?

Hey Debueller,

Sorry Buddy no pics.Camera got lost :-(

She is happy with it, and ya know if ya can keep the Mrs.Happy then all is A ok :-)

Just a note though IF ya ever go with the 4 inch higher one be sure Not to use the plugs it comes with, there is a couple of bolts/washer/nuts to replace the bottom plugs... Safety Concern here!

07bamafan,
One has to sort of lay one on top of the other and line the holes up from the stock S on to the back of the ULY, and drill a small hole through that into the ULY Screen......If it looks good then drill proper size hole and on to the next.. Not really hard just take your time and sort of do one hole at a time and match up the holes that way,You will have to find a few little black plugs to plug the S holes up later If ya want,Any autobody shop should have pennies...

Or anyway you seem fit...Good luck

All you need to do in order to mount the Uly flyscreen on your S is drill the four holes you need for the mounting bolts. I used my S flyscreen as a template.

I will see what we can mock up as a template when you come in, I have a tall windshield in stock, and several XBs to test fit it up to.

I wouldn't recommend a tall Uly windscreen for the S though. I tried one of those first and took it off after just one short ride. Above 70 MPH the thing turns into a big sail and is quite dangerous IMO. The stock screen is perfect!

I just installed a Laminar Lip on my Ss this weekend and I think that it helps at cruising speeds. I am still getting used to it but it seem effective somewhere above 60 mph.

Fiance'got an Scg last winter. I put the Laminarlip from my Uly on her bike. She will not let me take it off. She says that it reduces the wind from her chest and shoulders. She does not complain about helmet buffeting either. When we stop to clean bugs off the face shields, she does not need to clean any from hers. She is 5'5" and says that she feels as if the scg was designed for her. people sure are suprised when we stop someplace and they ask what size engine is in the Scg and they find out it is the same as in my Uly. She also has the Cherry bomb red and it sure does get the attention. She had an f650gs BMW, that I put a large windshield on, but now she rides for much longer distances, and at higher speeds than before.
