So yesterday I decided it was time to readjust my suspension for winter.

I was fairly tired yesterday, yet I decided to get my tools out anyhow.

I thought I was reading the book right, but obviously I was not.
I have a mild case of dyslexia, it really only shows up when I am tired.

Well I had read all the numbers wrong, and adjusted my suspension all out of wack.

Today I went for a ride, and I thought I had punctured a tire. The bike wanted to throw me off.

I got back the garage to figure out what I did. Turns out I had adjusted only half of the front forks right. I am lucky nothing bad happened.

I felt like such and idiot.

Been there done that (with other bike bits). I call that the "drop the tools and slowly back away from the vehicle" moment.

You shoulda seen what I did to a poor, mostly innocent Garmin Quest that dared cross me during a panic'd preparation for a road trip...

About a month ago, I noticed that the bike was handling like crap and when I went to check the suspension adjustments, I saw that the front preload adjustments were out of wack - They were adjusted unevenly. I don't know how that happened because they were adjusted evenly not that far back. But in any case, the correct adjustment made a HUGE difference in the handling. HUGE!

Thanks for the heads up. The suspension is the one item that I do not check regularly before riding.I set it up when the bike was new, so as it has worn in I have not made any mods and thus perhaps I have slowely become accustomed to any change in the handling. I think I will make it a point now to check it once per month.

I ended up with my front forks set unmatched and it was the damndest thing. The effect was subtle but totally messed with my head for almost a whole season. Going over tar snakes and groves would make me dizzy. Wierd, but true. Re-set my suspension and all well again...

I've got by XB dialed in perfectly, but I can't seem to get my S1 right. She's fighting me at every corner.

Are the little dot marks on the upper and lower adjustments supposed to be precise movement marks or are they for approximation? When I adjusted mine they didn't seem to quite line up when all the way closed.

Approximate/reference. Back them all the way out and [re]dial them in to be sure.
