I just finished putting on the Rizoma Zero turn signals and they don't blink. I get an annoying sound out of a little box in the front, and no flashy, just constant on. Please help!

If they are LED's you probably need a new flasher(that little box)
If they are not then you probably hooked them up backwards.

They are LEDs. So, what do I need now? The little box? I am not mechanically inclined nor electronically. What, where, who, and why?

I believe that Rah already gave you all those answers. Just read what has been written, or call Al at American Sport Bike and he'll set you up.

It has to do with the resistance of the lights in the system. Since LED's have very low resistance compared to filiment bulbs, the flasher gets confused. DOT mandates that the driver/ rider be notified if by the vehicle if one of the lights are not functioning. Typically the remaining lights flash much quicker when one is not working.

Bonjo,

I see Rah's post, and I did read it. My reply was for the post before, but I only previewed it and forgot to actually post it. Then, when I noticed that it had not posted I hit the post button and there was already another post. I apologize for any inconvenience.

One other question. The connectors on the Rizomas are smaller than the stock ones. How do I rectify this? As I said before, I am not electronically inclined. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Since when? I've never seen a car notify the driver that a bulb is out.

Actually, lots of cars do this - I haven't seen it as much on newer models, but there are some older models that will display something on the dash if any of your tail/brake lights are out.

The flashers will speed up if you have a bulb burnt out - while this is a way of notifying the driver, I don't know if it's really something that was purposly engineered into the peice, or if it's just a side-effect of the flasher when it has less resistance. I suspect the latter.

Tim:

Obviously, you just didn't know what it was trying to tell you! Along with a number of other drivers that can't figure out why all of a sudden their turn signals are flashing so fast. Don't worry it wasn't covered in the driving manual, you would have to read the owners manual to glean this tidbit of esoteric BS.

Didn't you ever wonder why the LEO's can tell so quickly when you have a turn signal light out?
It flashes very fast saying pull me over, pull me over, pull me over, pull me over, pull me over..... I'm a dumbsh!t that doesn't know what their vehicle is trying to tell them!

Don't worry I had to tell my new Brother-in-law the other day he had a signal out. His reply was "I wondered why it was blinking so fast, er, duh!"

Later, Time2Ride
