So I have this 88’ kit on my Firebolt and something that I have been thinking about even since I saw the RR was putting the eight-piston Nissin caliper on my xb. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy one? With the correct master cylinder. Or if it will even fit, or it this just a pipe dream? | ||

They are available now, just Buy the RR master cyl, or equivalent. Heck they have been avail since the intro of the RR. I believe the caliper is like $700 or so, try calling the dealer. If your dealer cant help Stone Mountain HD/Buell in the sponsors section can, ask for Phil or Dennis. (Message edited by new12r on November 13, 2007) | ||

Price will be significantly reduced for the production 1125R caliper, which is a slightly improved, mass-produced version of the one used on the RR. Likely retail will be somewhere around $400 or a little more; if you want one now, call Henry Duga at Buell Racing 262-642-2020 x336. He has them in stock. You'll need an RR or an 1125 master cylinder to use with it, or the leverage ratio will be insane. | ||

Geesh. These Factory Buell guys still don't get it, do they? Guys... the unobtanium parts are only supposed to go to your pet racers factory race team, and only so long as he tows the company line and does what the factory says. Then, after a season of this, the "tier 2" teams might get a crack at it... if you happen to need them at that moment, and they haven't dared cross you recently. After that, you start to mass produce an inferior version of the part (that you had tooled up all along anyway) but only put it on the "RR" limited edition bikes... the ones that cost $5000 more for $1000 worth of extra parts... but are painted to look like the race bikes do. A year or two after that, it can go on the "normal" bikes. Or a part that kinda looks like the race part. Sorta. If you don't look closely. You just don't get it, do you?  | ||

The price is out, and better than expected: H0110.1AMXT 8-piston caliper suggested retail $329.79 Henry Duga has them in stock now, at the phone number above. The 1125R uses a 14mm master cylinder compared to the 12.7mm of the XBs. | ||

damn it Anon............ you just HAD to post that didn't you!!!! Just when I thought that I didn't have many more mods to do on my bike you go and post up the price on the caliper. I tried to avoid reading this thread cause I knew I would read something like that. Damn you!!!! I guess I'll be having my dealership calling Henry soon.  | ||

The only thing that might worry me about putting this on an XB is if the fork and chassis can handle the extra braking force. The XBRR ran an Ohlins fork with machined from billet triple clamps and the 1125R uses a 47MM fork and a much stiffer chassis. Hey anony can you chime in on this? Can the XB fork and frame handle the extra force? | ||

Just for reference, the 56 production XBRR calipers cost Buell more each than dealers are suggested to sell the 1125R calipers for, and they were half again less expensive than the early billet 8-piston calipers. The wonders of mass production and being able to amortize tooling over more units . . . | ||

There is no more braking force reacted at the fork with an 8-piston caliper than with the 6-piston caliper; that is limited by the "brakie" limit. You can't brake any harder than to the point where the bike starts to flip forward. The 8-piston caliper provides better feel from increased stiffness and more fade resistance, as well as increased leverage allowed by the increased stiffness. In other words, subjectively, it feels more powerful because it takes less lever effort to achieve a given braking rate. | ||
