Well it finally happened, the side stand pivot bolt on my 05 CityX sheared off. Luckily it was still holding up my bike but now I need a replacement. One of the local HD/Buell shops doesn't have one in stock. Can any of the sponsors let me know if they have one they can get to me quicker than the 1 week lead time my local shop gave me?

I used a .5" dia. by 1" hardened shoulder bolt. It let me take the slack out of the factory setup. Much smoother operation and more secure when up and down.

Tread -

That's the ticket!!

Where did you get the bolt?

Nothing like that at my hardware store.

Roro-

The kickstand was one of those classic Buell non-recalls.
They upgraded the Kickstand, should have been a recall, and now you can't get the bolt for the old models, not that you would want one, - they obviously don't work.

Other non-recall recalls are :
2003 XB9 Belt
Front Engine isolator
Spark plug wires
Firebolt headlights
Maybe one or two others that I have forgotten.

Got a pic of the sheared off bolt? I have an '03 with the original stand/bolt/switch and I'm going to the newest version stand with just the "dowel"/e-clip. Curious if this isn't a good fix either?...
TIA

Oh, me too, me too! (That is, if someone has a spare one, sell me it!)

You should see the cobbled together POS I've got right now! Although it's sturdy, it's ugly. Grade 8 allen bolt and a stainless flanged sleeve/bushing thingy. It wobbles a little side-to-side and I keep my eye on it. I'm NOT paying $60 for the "upgrade", and that's IF you can find it!
I was told that they were on national back-order!
Which means they're a POPULAR item, no?
Which means a LOT are being replaced...
Hmmm...a "non-recall recall". (thanks GJ!)

Buy the new pin and clip, drill the old mount to fit, you're done.

That's what I did, anyway.

Shoulder bolts are sold at McMaster-Carr. The company I work for orders regularly from them, but I have never done it personally, so I have no experience with regards to small purchases there.

You can do a search by typing shoulder bolts in the find field at left.

The printout below is about 1/2"D, 1"L models per Trademarks' info above.
