Looking to replace the stock headlight bulbs as well as the bulb in the center which is actually not in there so i don't know what it actually uses. I was looking for a brighter with a little blue to the light. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Torque.

i just had to look this up as well... ended up going with H7 Sylvania Silverstars for the headlights (lots of good reviews around here) and a #194 bulb for the center parking light. both snagged from Advance Auto. first impression on the Silverstars, wow, LOTS brighter and cleaner light!

your local auto parts shop should have Sylvania, Hella and a few other cheaper options in both bright white and blue tint. almost grabbed a set of Hella Xenon Blues.

Only caution with the Silverstars is that I had one fail a bit soon (4 months). Clerk at auto store said that was common (his opinion only). I like the Silverstars for light and color. Anyone else notice they burnout quick?

This is about as bright as you can get with the stock wiring:

H7 Bulb, 12V, 65W, Hyper by Osram, 2100 Lumens, 25.15 each #CP64217. I have used these, and they are very bright. Mine went over 6 months before I scrapped the factory lighting.

If you beef up the wiring and relays, and are not afraid of melting anything (reflectors/lenses) then you could use these:

HL83810 H7 Bulb, 12V, 100W XENON
Hella High Performance Xenon Blue, per Pair $28.95

Has anyone done the HID XENON conversion kit on their XB? Prices for these aren't to bad in comparison to the silverstar ultra.

Talk to Corporatemonkey about an HID conversion on an S. Or do a search for "HID". His install is bound to come up.

And regarding 100W bulbs? Headlight housings are $80 IF you can find one! Don't ask me how I know...

Don't know if the DeathRay will fit or not on your bike, but these are cheaper than HID and make ants fry and cell phone talkin soccer moms tremble. They use glass lenses and metal housings.

Soltek Fuego...aka DeathRay:

It just depends on how bright you want to go.

230 watts of halogen baby. See the light.

There are HID Kits out on ebay for under $100. Has anyone tried these kits?

Hey Treadmarks,
Exactly what units are those? I think they would look good on my Cherry Bomb XB12Scg.

Anybody have experience with these lights: http://www.trailtech.net/lights.html ?

I'm in the process of upgrading my 'Bolt with the Hella 90mm H9 lights.

Exactly what units are those?

Soltek Fuego desert race lights from baja designs. They are available in halogen (100 buckaroonies) and HID (way expensive) and use h1 bulbs. They also have driving and spot reflectors. I use a 100 watt driving for low beam and a 130 watt spot for high beam, with both on when switched to high.

Here is the how to install:

I would upgrade to an HID kit before I would upgrade to the "deathray" lights.

Reason = Color

If you use an HID it that is 4300-5000k light temp, it is really visible. Since I have upgraded rarely has anyone not seen me. Now if you have the mean to upgrade to the HID deathray kit I think that is best of both worlds.

I'm using one of the Korean made(I think) HID kits in my Hayabusa. It's a H7 also.

For $80, I couldn't be happier.

I have tried various lights from 2800-4300k. The 4000k and higher was pretty visible when looking at it, but To me, it did not project as much light on the road at night. After trying about 20 different bulb combinations I went with the hella 130. It has 130 watts, 3000k and 3000 lumens. 3000lumens in a spot light will put a direct beam of light exactly where you want it. I use a 100 watt 3250k for the low beam driving light and it does a good job of lighting up my surroundings.

Rich , Did you have any problems fitting the bulbs in the stock housing? I noticed they look a little long. The kit i was looking at is about the same cost and it comes with the philips bulbs as well as a 2 year warranty. Torque.

Torque, it went right in, on the Busa. I originally was going to put it in my XB12S, but sold it. I bought a extra bulb for $30 to have a spare.

I'm going to install some H4s in my RoadGlide soon.
