Well I have a little over 3500 miles on my tires and they are shot! Does anyone have any suggestions on what to replace them with? Does anyone like the stock tires. I have heard good things about the continental sport attack, and Michelin Pilot power. | ||

+1 on the Scorpion Syncs. I've had them on my 9r since the original Dunlops gave it up at 3000 KILOMETERS! They do everything better than the Dunlops did, and on less than perfect surfaces,(i.e. public roads) they really shine. They grip well when wet, and have very nice feel on road surfaces that are dusty or sandy. When they DO break loose, (and you really have to push them hard) they slip in a very linear manner, substantially reducing the "Pucker factor" that can take the fun out of a perfectly good pair of underwear. And, like Patrick, I also just hit the wear bars at 14,000km. No doubt, the Diablos are a stickier tire, though. I've ridden a couple of bikes with them, and, although I did not get a chance to really flog them, once they were warmed up, they seemed to really work well with the suspension, especially on turn to turn transitions. There's gotta be a reason that Pirellis are now fitted as OE on the whole line.........even Blast! | ||

Syncs. Traded my stock Dunlops for them and it is like a different bike. Can't remember exactly, but got about 8000 miles out of the rear and 9000 out of the front. Replaced them with another set of Syncs. | ||

I only got 4k out of my Syncs. The front gave out first, probably to heavy on the front brake. I might have gotten 5k out of the rear if I wanted to push it. I went to Michelin Race DOTs for the summer and they were awesome in the Mountains, stuck like glue! Now that its getting cold, I have to get rid of the Race DOTs so am going to try Cont Road Attacks, hopefully I will get a few more miles out them compared to the Syncs. | ||

Corsa III's. I got nearly 10,000 miles out of my last rear and just replaced it. Those miles included a trip to Deals Gap. The rear was totally shot when I took it off mind you. All steel visible all the way around. | ||

I dont know what you guys are doing to your tires to get such low mileage. ha I was honestly only expecting about 8000 out of them just from reviews and such when I bought the bike. But I will take what ever I get. I am not the easiest to the tires either. I have 4 passes at the dragstrip, each with a small burnout. and a couple random burnouts throughout the 14000miles. lots of twisty riding on them when I go up to NH and out to western MA, less then an 1/4inch of chicken strip left. I also commutte almost everyday highway and city and a few back roads. And honestly its been a lot more highway then anything for the last 5000 miles. But I think the highway did the most damage, the fronts started to cup, and the rear would actually flake some rubber in the center of the tire after a long highway run. I think if I had done a better percentage of back roads for these last few months I would still be able to go for a couple more thousand. So I guess I am wondering why some people eat tires up and other dont? I am also 175lbs and 6'4" and have only riden 2up once on this bike, if that changes anything | ||

Ive got 10k on my Diablo Stradas, front is maybe 50% worn and I'm about ready to replace the rear. The stradas are an outstanding set of tires: grippy and long lasting. I would definitely buy them again. | ||

I just recieved an email from Cycle Gear, they the dunlop qualifiers on sale for $189.99 for 120/180 or $199.99 for 120/190. I've never used them so I cant comment on them, but I have run some Dunlop GP tires that stuck like glue, although 1500 miles and they were junk. | ||

I agree not anothe...r Tire thread  I do have a question to pose. I have been running the Pilot Roads. If I went with the Powers I would need two sets a season and can't afford them. My stock rubber was shot in 2000 miles rubber balled up on the sides bad. Anyway has anyone used the new Pilot Road II's with the dual compound? | ||

I have no idea how some guys get more than 5-6K on sport tires. But I have the Metzler M3 and love them. My opinion is that all of the tires listed in this thread are acceptable. The decision you need to make is whether you are going to want a higher mileage tire with slightly less grip (Stradas, Pilot Roads) or a true sport tire with less mileage and the best performance (Corsa III, M3) Personally, I will give up the mileage for the peace of mind. Molly, do you find the edges of your rear tire wearing significantly different than previous tires? It would be cool to get a tire that wears uniformly. | ||

Michelin has an interesting new tire. Pilot Road 2. It has a soft shoulder, and harder center, so you get good cornering, and better wear. I haven't tried them myself, but the Pilot Powers I have used were very good handling. Punk you must be EASY on the throttle. I have 25,000 miles on my 9S. I am on my 6th rear tire, and I use Sport Touring Tires. Most I have ever gotten out of a rear was 5,200 miles (Metz Z6). That's with no track days or burnouts and running the recommended PSI. Almost all my miles are aggressive Sport Touring, all the way to the edge of the tire and fairly heavy on the throttle. | ||

Punkid888, I dont know about you but I RIDE THE SNOT out of my bike and I have never got more than 4,000 miles out of a set of tires, Race DOT's last me barely 1,000 miles, Pilot powers were the best I used at 3500 miles. | ||

I use my bike for everything, so I might not be as hard as possible all the time, like when I am going to get a movie, or going to supermarket for some stuff, or bringing a couple tools to my friends garage, or going to work. But come the weekend if I am out to play then I will ride it hard. I have ridden a couple times with the NEBO crew and we will tear up some good roads. I think I will stay with the syncs tho, why mess with a good thing, hahaha. | ||

I agree with Fresnobuell, I'll always choose a tire with more grip for the peace of mind it gives me knowing I have a little more grip in reserve for emergency stops or if over-cook a corner entrance and have to lean it in a little harder. Cheap tires aren't worth it to me. When I was younger I used to run Cheng Shin's on my KZ750. All was well until I reached the limit of he tire's grip and it started sliding. No warning, just suddenly the back end was loose and it was time to pull a (Jay) Springsteen impression. I'll pass on that kind of excitement |
