I'm still running stock but plan to get a Drummer when I get off my ass and source a muffler have it converted and sent here. Anyways, I was wondering about the noise. I don't mind if its noisy when i ride it, but my main concern is the warm up time when i start it up every morning. Its a pretty tight neighborhood here lots of old folks etc. and i don't really want to be the annoying guy who starts his thumping bike every morning. So I was thinking, is it possible to make something that you could slip over the end of the pipe, while it idles, to quieten the noise and then just take it off before you ride away. Some kind of box, or silencer. Im not sure how it would work, whether it would restrict the flow too much and screw things up? any ideas? | ||

We appreciate your thoughtfulness, with regard to morning noise. Best to speak to Drummer about your suggestion. Or Just leave it stock. | ||

I have one, its not really loud. At Idle its sounds great but not loud. Very deep which is more pleasant and not as ear cracking as other pipes. | ||

I have a D&D on my bike, not the quitest pipe to say the least. Since it is a dual outlet what I do and it works very well is just stick a tennis ball in the one outlet during warm up and its almost as it not quiter then stock. Once I'm ready I just pop it out with my boot and off I go. | ||

Once I'm ready I just pop it out with my boot and off I go. Wouldnt work on a drummer since it has only one outlet. I have a drummer on my 9. It is not that loud if you ride conservatively and keep the RPM's low. If you get on the bike it gets loud. You cant go wrong with the drummer....its loud when you want it to be and it is an all around preformer when it comes to performace mods on your bike. } | ||

yeah i have a D&D as well. I use the tennis ball trick too. It does work well. But you will need a dual outlet muffler. A good choice might be the Pro series Muffler that Buell stopped producing.You can find em on ebay every now and again. I have one that i was going to put on their. thanks for the offer but its the Drummer I'm after, Ive been reading about them since before I got the bike. It might turn out to be fine noise wise, I have no idea. The 'start up' silencer idea was just a thought, that would apply to anyone with a noisy 4 stroke. Im more interested in the physics of it and whether it would be possible. I dont care about the noise it makes when I ride it just thought it might be usefull for those going on an early morning ride etc... My 2 stroke I have to roll down the hill on it then start it up down the street, that bastard is very noisy at 5am. | ||

I have had my Drummer since Kevin started making them. The sound is really cool, for lack of a better word. Aside from a little surface rust that I just repainted, I love it. Using the stock mounting makes it a no brainer. And I found there is no need to take off anything off except the chin spoiler when taking the muffler down. |
