I know that Buell offered a Desert Camo option (I am unsure if it was only a dealer aftermarket option or an actual color option) for 06 and maybe 07,but unfortunately not for 08. I am wanting to try to find a set but it seems that it is now obsolete.

So does anyone know where I may be able to find a set of these plastics? I am pretty sure all that was offered was the flyscreen, the airbox cover, and the handguards. Any insight is appreciated.

It was an aftermarket option. I too am interested in a set. The rear grab rail that supports the triple tail was also offered in camo.

Can't help you but I was interested when I heard about it way back when. Just my opinion, but I was disappointed when I saw it in person at a bike show.

As I remember the pattern was similar to the 6-color "chocolate chip" pattern the USAF ( as well as some other services) wore in Desert Storm. Contrast it to the 3-color Desert Camo we (USAF) wore for OIF.

Now even that has been replaced by a pixilated tiger stripe ABU airmans battle uniform - which is REALLY ugly.

Either way, the set wasn't cheap. Good luck in your hunt.

Couldn't you just use the camo overlays that guys put on the sides of trucks? It's basically a big camo sticker that comes on a role or sheet.

You could just buy a sheet, cover your airbox, fender, fly screen, etc. and trim the excess.

Cheers,

Luke

Sorry,

Here's the link for buying it by the sheet (4',5'). $70 isn't bad and if you get bored with the look it is removable.

Yeah I currently have some of the mossy oak overlay on the bike but the stuff has started to peel considerably and I have only put 2000 miles on the bike so I wanted something a little more permanent.
Here is a pic of what I currently have on it. This is the work of DaveS when he still worked at Appleton HD

I remember seeing the price of the original kit being $1100.00.

The original kit was available for one order only. We got a set and sold it. Last I checked, there were none left at other dealers either.

go to the surplus store and buy a set of old BDUS, cut the cloth to pattern, double stitch hem the edges, call it good. should be able to do the tank and windscreen with the back sides of two BDU's, prob less than $30 and some template time. Then you could get woodland camo too.

Gainesville HD has a set and its on a Uly on the floor. give them a call and see if they are willing to pull it off and sell it to you.

At first I was skeptical but it really does look good on the bike.

when it is 11pm there it is 6am of the same calendar day here in the central time zone where Hal's is located. Gainesville
is an hour later so it would be 7am there.

Since most H-D dealers open around 10am and close around 6pm mon-sat that would be...... 3am -11am tues-sunday
If I have it figured correctly.

Here is my buddy's. He likes it. I like it too. When it gets dirty it is very difficult to clean it and doesn't clean well at all. Although it does look bad ass.

Tq_freak thanks for the line on the set of camo in gainesville I gave them a call today, and of course they have to run the idea past their GM but they seemed like a pretty good bunch of guys down there though.

Thanks also to Steve, I will hopefully get in contact with Bud tomorrow.

If is takes you right across to Burlington then yes it is. Right down the street from Ausable Chasm.
I was at my buddies house in Lake Placid. We did the whole VT, NH, ME thing.
