Kind of a fender-ette really.

I think it really has more to do with government vehicle regulations then anything else. Extending bodywork past the rear tire. Then again, it is a little dirt bike-ish.

Who knows, well, only one guy, the designer. I really feel for the guy. Probably spent weeks getting the shape right and the first thing we do is cut it off. : ): )

I chopped mine off before my accident. Now that it's all fixed again, I'm leaving it all intact.

Like Luxor said, government regulations.

There was a picture posted a couple months back, without the cheesegrater any water you run over will spray up the back of the rider.

I got asked by an English guy if it was for straining tea on the side of the road!

My wife has made a couple comments that when the cheese grater is in the dishwasher, that she's going out in the garage to use the bike. The look that she gets usually stops her in her tracks. She's such a funny gal! The things she'll do to get a little rise out of me.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what's back there, your back is getting wet, I know mine does.}

Is it a called a cheese grater just because they're built in Wisconsin? If it were on a Ducati would it be universally know as a pasta strainer?

I always thought it was there to evenly spread the water on your back as opposed to 1 straight line coming off the tire : )

When my Ducati riding friend first saw my cheese grater he said "Cool! A smoke letter outer!" I like this terminology much better.
