like when you dump your wife's bike. Yep, I haven't crashed mine but I laid down my wife's '07 XB12Scg today on my way into work. I feel like such a jerk. It was really my fault I guess. I was only going around 30 mph around a sharp turn and hit a rock or something with my front tire and laid it down. The bike charged into the curb, and so did my ass. I am fine. I thought I would be able to nurse the bike to work but oh was I wrong.

Broken swing arm and rim. Of course the left side peg was snapped off and mirror and signal light, but wow... glad I put those frame pucks on. Mind you, if I hadn't put on those frame pucks, they maybe would have written off the bike and then I would have been able to get the wife a new '08. Oh well, live and learn.

I am sure I would have had a few more bruises had I not had all of my gear on. Leather is good.

OK, maybe it was a bit faster than 30 but that's my story and I am sticking to it.

I hope you enjoy YOUR "new" bike. The SCG will never be right again.

At least to her satisfaction. : D

Yeah I'm in trouble. I took her bike into work so I could adjust the suspension to her body weight. I did an adjustment all right. I'm actually scared to see her.

When I called her from roadside she was concerned for my well being and I assured her that I was OK. When I gave her the news on the bike, her tone changed. The realization that her pristine little beauty has been debauched doesn't seem to sit so well.

So, how does shoe polish work on scraped up black leathers? It is quite minor.

Thanks all

Hey Aaron,

I'm glad that you are not hurt. The bike can be repaired and all will be forgiven.

Well the bike can be repaired anyway.
Possibly even forgiven, but never forgotten.

Seriously, good to hear only bruises and scuffed leather.
Shoe polish, shoe dye, all that stuff will make it less noticeable.

Glad your not hurt (yet). Is it called Dr. Browns that restores bad leather. At least remind her that your intentions were the most pure and that you were attempting to get her bike perfect for her. I hope you get the bike back up to par it is a great little bike.

Ouch! glad you're ok.....for now.

As Glitch said the damage may get repaired,
and it may be forgiven,
but it will never....EVER be forgotten.

From now on any time something you do goes slightly awry you can bet on this incident being brought up.

It will truly suck.

Thanks for the support guys. Wife isn't too vexed. Just thinks I'm a goof. Now I can't walk right, sprained my left ankle. Weird, it didn't settle in till two hours after the crash.

I hate humble pie. It tastes to nasty. There is worse pie out there though...

She's probably just waiting for you to heal before she wallops you.
That way you'll know the difference between road injury and punishment : D

OK, somehow she has rationalizied that she gets to buy new clothes in the amount of damage there is on the bike......can you say double jeopardy. I'm gonna have to really squeeze money outa the posers that want into the night club tomorrow night.

Catch you guys on monday. Have a nice weekend. I blew my ride with the wife this weekend, be sure to enjoy yours.

I know that look.....

That look of total terror.....but a sense of denial that it could actually happen.

Like when I backed the gf's car out of the garage after giving her ford probe a brake job and somehow managed to tear the driverside door off in the process of backing outta the garage.

deny, deny, deny.......
