With tech starting at 7:00 am, I'm planning on spending the night somewhere close to Long Pond. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hotel (say with in 20 miles of the track)? I'm looking for clean and safe, nothing fancy. I'll have my bike on an open trailer for the night.

Thanks in advance!

My friend who lives in the area recommends the Best Western in Blakeslee. I don't know myself 'cause every time I'm in the area, I stay with them... not in a hotel.

I will be staying at the Fairfield Inn in Dickson City. It is about 30 min away from the track

The Best Western is really close to the track. I've never stayed there, but it looks reasonable.

As far as the Fairfield Inn in Dickson City, I would give yourself more like 45-60 minutes. The problem with Pocono is its located just off Rt. 115 which can suck if you get stuck behind some slow drivers. You may make it in 30 minutes, but you're counting on luck and speed which never seem to pan out for me.

Of course, to edit my response to Stack, you can always avoid 115 by taking I380, which may save yourself some time. If you do that, you're still looking at about 45 minutes. I don't want to see you guys late for tech.

BTW, are you doing Pocono East or FUSA?

I am only staying there because I can for free. I am sure that I will be up early as I will be so excited. Not sure what you mean about Pocono east or FUSA. I am in the novice class if that helps

East is a good time, and the Buell does fine. Really bumpy, but great fun on the Buell. Some awesome high speed turns. Did it a few times.

I did FUSA once, my first trackday, and got the paint sucked off my bike as the imports flew by at 160+ on the banking. Some good infield stuff, but man was my XB9 outgunned.

The FUSA does have a couple of insane bumps where the pavement transitions on the banking. You have to keep it wide open, which for me is scary as hell at 125 going over a significant bump and looking at the concrete wall. I'll never forget it.

The 1125 would be way fun on the FUSA course, from what I've heard about the bike.

Stack,
Pocono has the outer tri-oval and a bunch of in-field courses: http://www.poconoraceway.com/trackrental/

I've only ridden East (which really was a blast), but I've also heard Spatten1's comments from others about just being outgunned. Either way, you'll have a blast. I'll be at East again on 9/30 for my last trackday of the season.

I think the bikes usually get relegated to East because it is too narrow for the cars to pass on, so they run the other side of the facility.

FUSA requires most of the facility, so it costs more because they can't run the Porsche/Corvette/Miata clubs at the same time.

You'll still have fun at FUSA, but an XB makes it a little frustrating if there are imports out there with you. It will still be great, it's a track day for crying out loud, how bad can it be? The worst trackday (without a crash) is still the best friggin day I can imagine.
