So I was going to ride to work today. I rolled my bike out in the driveway and fired it up. I went back in the garage to get my gear while the bike was warming up. All of a sudden I hear a crash and something hit the garage door. I thought, that didnt sound good. Went back outside to find my Buell on its side. Somehow the poor thing had fallen on it left side. Broke my new CRG mirror, clutch lever, turn signal, footpeg, bent the shift pedal and that in turn scratched my primary cover. The footpeg is what hit the garage door when it snapped off. Luckily I have just purchased some R footpegs but haven't put them on yet. Anyone had anything like this happen? I dont have a clue what happened. I just guess I didnt have the side stand all the way out. But it took a while for it to fall. But at least its friday!!! (Message edited by mjhzn6 on September 14, 2007) | ||

It sucks that something as minor as a tip over could have such dramatic results. It would probably feel better if it was raining on this day as well so at least you're not missing much. Seems like the foot peg always snaps. What gives. | ||

I hate when that happens. Mine fell of the stand and broke the clutch lever and the left peg. I dropped it two more times the first three weeks I had it. I still have no confidence in the Buell kickstand system. | ||

I hate it when people say, "It could have been so much worse". It really doesn't help at all. But... it could have been so much worse. I was holding my wheels in my hand with brand new Metzelers mounted on them as my garage door slowly revealed the horror that took place inside - MY MOTORCYCLE WAS LAYING ON ITS SIDE WITH NO WHEELS ON IT! Not my finest moment. | ||

Man, I feel your pain.  2 weeks after I bought my baby(XB9S)a buddy rear ended me on his Honda Shadow, yea, he's a genius. I had about the same damage you describe. Same thing happened to me DJ, only I was trying to put the front tire back on. I was fighting with holding it up, talking my youngest son through putting on the front tire. Fortunately New12r was on his way home at the time, and was over in about 20 minutes. Now while changing both tires, I strap it to the rafters in the garage. | ||

I had the same thing almost happen to my XB12S I just happened to catch it before it hit the ground in my case there was a slight slant to the floor and while it was idling it tried to walk off the kickstand the lesson is make sure to always park uphill | ||

I recently changed my '03 XB9R from the stock setup to the updated kickstand kit. I had the bolt start to shear a while back and a few months ago crashed the bike. I figured a new kickstand was in order by that point. Anyways...I noted there is a distinct difference in the feel of the kickstand in raising and lowering it. The stock setup with the kickstand switch provided some resistance to the movement both ways...since doing the swap and removing the kickstand switch...the kickstand definitely moves much easier both ways. I think the '04 and newer not having the kickstand switch will have a much stronger tendency to self raise the kickstand if the bike is not forcing the kickstand open. I noted even in my garage the bike jumps around a bit more and that is perfectly level...I have since started rolling the bike back onto the driveway so it is facing uphill and try to do so whenever I park it.
