Damn, I've tried everything and I just can't get the spots of Autosol outta my black wrinkle finish cases. I've also got cement stabilised roadbase all over it that won't come out of the finish.

Any suggestions???

I tried WD-40 but it attracts dirt again. I use Honda contact cleaner. It won't hurt any paint surfaces and it cleans quick and has no residue.

Pig spit is good. Armor All is almost as effective and cheap.

I use normal ordinary brake cleaner. Just spray on enough to flush out the surface and it dries by itself with no residue so you dont have to wipe and get little cloth bits on the cases. This also works amazing on blonde motors.

P.S. for stains on your motor cases that just wont go away..........use K&N filter cleaner on it but dont wipe it, just rinse with water after a couple mins.

This will sound terrible, and I know it may be bad, but...

I just spray Simple Green on any stubborn dirt on my bike and let it soak, then wash as normal or scrub the Simple Green in with a brush.

I hate washing bikes, so I just look for an easy way to get it done quickly.

Please let me know if I'm doing something terrible.

Spatten1 - not terrible at all. when i wash my bike, i wet it down and spray dilute simple green on just about everything. it loosens-up the bugs and other road fung, before i hit it with the wash mit. go for it. the stuff smells good too!

A word of caution about Simple Green. When used the way the MFG recommends, it's pretty good stuff. If you don't use it that way, it is strong enough to mark powder coated wheels, take the polish surface right off that billet "do-dad" etc.

I have personally seen it do both the things I have mentioned. Wheels and cases are expensive to replace and/ or have re-powder coated.

M/C specific cleaners take these issues in mind when they are formulated. I use Bikebrite and or S100. Even with S100 if you leave it on a polished surface too long or, don't rinse it well, will produce a white film.

If you don't want a big $ repair bill, watch what cleaners and cleaning equipment you use. Sometimes a little more elbow-grease, TLC and, becoming one with your Buell is much better in the long run (right Court )
