I'm finally able to purchase a Buell, But are the 08 worth the cost right now regarding the refinements to the engine, or get a good deal on a 07 model. I have the option of both right now. What do the BADWEB think? | ||

I just got my 08 12R and so far so good. I will never have to go to the dealer for a TPS reset and the bike is infinitely more refined than my 03 9S. My dealer refused to sell me the 07 12r he had because of all of the improvements to the 08. I think that is enough reason for anyone. He really wants to get the 07 off of the floor to make room for another 08 but he wanted me to get the best bang for the buck. I have purchased several bikes from him so I trust his judgement. As far as my personal feeling if you can get a bike that has refinements that help keep you away from the service shop then by all means go for it. | ||

I wouldn't trade in my current XB (05) for an 08 but.. if I was wanting to change over to a different model I would choose an 08. If I was buying a new bike right now it would be an 08 for no other reason than not having to bring it in for a tps reset. That the 08 models have a crank sensor for timing now is also a big reason why I would choose 08. It's not enough to make me trade in my ever faithful 05 but they are definitely some nice improvements. | ||

I don't know if I would upgrade from a previous XB, but given the choice I would get an 08 over and 07. | ||

I agree 100 percent. If I had the option of going '07 or '08, I would go '08, but that being said the improvements aren't enough to make me want to trade my '06 on an '08. --Sean | ||

It all depends on the discount being offered on the '07. A TPS reset can be done in 15 minutes (tops) with ECMSpy (free) and a cable (~40). To me, that's a non-issue. The '08 crank sensor is better than the cam sensor in the '07 and earlier bikes, but I've also not heard that it results in a better running bike. The larger crank journals, lighter pistons, and 300rpm higher redline are nice. So's the improved oil pump and the larger capacity oil cooler. If I were looking at $1000 difference, I'd probably buy the '07 and spend the $1000 on upgrades and accessories. For $500 difference, I'd buy the '08. | ||
