I just installed a Corbin saddle on my '07 Firebolt and have noticed a substantial increase in heat on my right leg. The seat itself doesn't seem to get hot (the stock one did), but the heat coming out from the little hole under the seat on the right side is very much increased over stock. If I'm going between 25 and 35 mph there's so much heat coming out it's actually painful. I've even had passangers complain that the back seat seems hotter than usual, and the cubby seems to get warmer as well. BTW - the fan doesn't seem to come on anymore than usual, and this happens regardless of it the fan is on or not. It was painful on a ride last night when temps were down into the low 70's. Is the Corbin seat that much better thermally that is forces all the heat to go out the hole rather than up through the seat? Would putting a heat blanket over the hole on the right side force that air to exit out under the tail? Would this trap an unreasonable amount of heat? |

Try spec ops heat shields. I havn't seen a corbin seat on a buell yet only Harley's and they are usually a denser foam. So yes I would have to say they would block more heat. http://www.specialops-online.com/11401.html |

Try spec ops heat shields. I checked out Odie's stuff (I already have the airbox shield from him), and he doesn't have anything to cover the holes on the Firebolt's tail. I could easily fab something up, but I with how much heat is coming out of there I want to make sure it won't just get trapped. |
