I cant really think of anything original anymore! show me some home made mods and designs. I liked punkid's inner airbox's hole pattern. Who's done what? |

Of course there is the usual (since you have an 03) remove the snorkel from the tobe that passes through the frame. If you cut your own air box you can also remove the black plastic ring around the gas cap too. as a low dollar mod you can re-route the crank case vents out of the intake. To do so you T them together and run them down to the front of the bike. from there add another T fitting so that one side can be vented upward through a filter and the other side can have several inches of tubing that has a plug in it to act as a gravity trap for the liquid. This is the home shop version of the catch can I have on my bike. |

Yea my next mod will be the catch can. every time I inspect the air cleaner the inside has a gross film of Oil. Another Freebie mod is carving up your muffler. There is a couple of threads where people did it them selves. I believe the factory muffler is a three chamber, so you basically cut the back off and cut out one chamber (obviously more to it) although this is more likely a sound Mod then a performance mod. I have an extra muffler that I will be experimenting with. Thanks for the compliment on my air box. I was actually thinking of cutting a couple more slots towards the back and top similar to the 07s. I was worried that the air from the back would be super heated from the Head tho. I have also givin thought to carving up my outer air box plastic, but that will wait till I find a cheap Ebay one. |

Rewire for an always on low-beam headlight. 65w bulbs or pretty cheap. Big bang for the buck and safer. Improving the lighting on the Buell with LEDs bulbs or lights seems a high valve project. I really liked loosing the floppy front turn signals for a solid pair that also work as running lights. I bet you could come up with some cheap on innovative options. I How about a colored bulb in the Euro bulb socket between the headlights it might different. |

GP shifting - reverse the small arm. Simple except the allen head is a pain but you only have to do it once. Once you get used to it, you'll never regret it. You always do your downshifting while the bike is upright in setting up for the turn and there are OFTEN circumstances when you want to upshift while still leaned over - and putting your toe UNDER the shifter when leaned over can be bad. If you have more than one bike and can't change every one, you're better off not changing to GP/Reverse pattern. Confusion is NOT a good thing! |

I agree with Slaughter...I did this to my Buell and my Suzuki. NEVER looked back! It really has its merits on the track, but I wouldn't trade it on the street either. BUT, I also agree on the confusion part. It now takes me considerable effort to ride another bike (at least during the first couple miles). |

I don't think i quite understand what to do here... but speaking of shifting the kick stand grinding down of the nub sounds like a good idea since my XB fell over while i was at work. It snapped off the rubber part of the toe shifter. o i rummaged through the parts bin and grabbed an old HD screw on toe shifter and I'm smoothing out the finish instead of the porouse casted look

Looks good. +1 on the lighting mods, especially the Euro front marker. I am mostly doing stuff with paint. I have a black 03 XB9S, changing the colors on certain pieces can have a profound effect on appearance. I painted the oil cooler scoop, and a few other parts XB frame silver. Cheap and easy to do. I was actually describing what is on the race bike and I do not have pics of that right now. On my street bike I have the Norris Performance/Drummer/American Sport Bike billet catch can anodized black. Here are a few different cheap catch can versions: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/19434.html#POST152447 however, this is the style I was referring to: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/173969.html (Message edited by diablobrian on August 16, 2007) |
