I was thinking about doing this for some time.
Today after cleaning the bike, I finally pulled the trigger and removed all the Buell badging on the plastic. Then Polished it with Novus 2
Looks Stealth

i always thought de-badged bikes look like salvaged bike that were rebuilt but they didn't put the decals and stuff back on. but that's just me. if you like it, rock on!

I saw one bike at Homecoming that was debadged and replaced with Harley Davidson. I wonder what Mr. Buell was thinking when he was signing it.

I haven't debadged yet, but I did make some vinyl overlays for the stock emblems:

I've been thinking about doing this for a while. did you do anything specific to get the stickers off with no damage?

Quetip:
wait for a hot day and have the sun shine on your bike all day.
get your thumb nail under the edge and peel it up steady without stopping, that will leave glue residue

$8 stickers. Easy to remove if I decide I don't like them.

I just finished washing my bike and removed all the scratches with novus 2. Then it hit me, so I just peeled them off slowly with my finger nails
The ones on the tail and front came off real easy in one piece. I put them on my workbench to save them.
The AirBox ones were a little harder but came off in 2 steps. First the letters then the double sided sticky stuff.

I then used some gloo gone stuff to remove all of the adhesive, then I polished all 5 areas with Novus 2.

I just noticed that the Airbox now has ghost letters for BUELL due to sun fade.
So at the right angle, it still has a logo and that is really cool

I took the badges off some time ago, and put one of them on my swingarm.

When I changed out my yellow plastics to cf, I left off the badging. In two weeks I've had at least a dozen people ask me what kid of bike I have.

I put my tank in the bathtub full of hot water to soften the glue, then I used dental floss to get under the lettering and cut through the glue.

Debadged Buells... has a nice ring. I 'debadged' my tuber years ago to paint it and liked it so much... I left it like that.

Those mirrors are there because I like them.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion... but I wonder why you keep coming back to this thread to bag on the bikes?

Once was enough... we get it. Believe me.

salvage? no.
clean? yes.

i tell everybody who asks what it is, and i encourage everyone to try one and buy one.
but i don't like lookin' like a billboard. : )

The mirrors echo the shape of the round headlights. To a lesser extent, it is also related to the rounded front edges of the fenders (as opposed to those which are more square). You will find that many bikes with round headlights have round mirrors. Look at the Triumph Speed Triple, Ducati GT1000, and BMW HP2 for three examples.

Don't feel bad, though. Not everyone has an eye for the more subtle aspects of styling. But there is more to choosing a mirror than going through the Dennis Kirk catalog and ordering the one which, by itself, looks best.

i get that, that's why i have round bar ends. to be honest the reason i changed them when i did was because the stock ones buzzed too much and i couldn't get them set to see what i wanted to see. sorry guys, wasn't tryin to piss anyone off, just stating my opinion and asking questions. like i said in my first post, it's your bike, if you like it, rock on.

+1 on the hairdryer. I took off the reflectors and all badging except for the big "Buell" logos on the airbox cover. They match the iridescent amber rims, so I'll leave them on until I get around to powdercoating the rims black. I'm doing some work on my bike right now, so I'll post a new pic in my profile once I'm done.

As for the mirrors, I did take my lollipops off, ran bar-ends for a while but decided with the Crossroads bars it looked like Bullwinkle running down the road, but ended up recently ordering a set of round Aprilia mirrors from Al to go back where the stockers were mounted. I agree, the round mirrors do complement the bike.

Tuono mirrors +1 ;) bike came hero blue, I took all the Blue off the bike, changed her color to valencia, left the lettering off the box, and put a reflector over the timing cover. And usually dose her with a good bit of mud

I de-badged mine when I had the airbox painted with the lightning paint scheme. Why cover up that paint after I paid so much for it? Looks great and people are always asking me what kind of bike I have now.

I have a Sunset Orange 2006 XB12Ss Lightning Long and I removed the "American Motorcycles" badges but kept the Buell logo on the tank (like the later bikes). I also kept the Lightning badges on the pasta strainer and the flyscreen. I removed the fork-mounted reflectors and the government-mandated stickers from the frame.
