just because i've reached 10,000 (s)miles do i have to get the T.P.S reset and how bout the timing checked. bike seems to run just as good as day one. well, after break in (s)miles. i did the rest of service my self. will take forks to suspension shop. what has anybody else done. i just hate the dealer, since you always hear " we just don't see much of these". shit you might as well turn and run! but in stockton, ca, the harley dealer seems to be ok ,at talking, thanks for all your info.

Yes. Give the wheel bearings a check, too, along with the regular service stuff.

Congratulations on 10K.

10k service is always a good time to take stock of the whole bike, and do everything reasonable now so that you can look at the next 3000 miles with little to do but buy gas.

Things I might think of would be:

1. Change the primary chain case oil. Harley Formula + seems to be the consensus favorite for that job. Make sure you follow the manual for lubricant level: it affects shifting. Adjust primary chain.
2. While you are seated on that side of the engine, how about a nice new set of Denso Iridium Plugs, IXU24? Don't cost too much, work great.
3. Might as well change the oil and filter.
4. Tire pressure 36 front 38 rear
5. Lubricate clutch cable, especially the end that goes into the handlebar lever.
6. Good time to spoon on a new pair of tires, even though there may be a little rubber left: new buns always feel great.
7. Take a good close look at your belt, especially if you have the wheel off.
8. Adjust + lube throttle cables: they can easily loosen.
9. As far as the TPS and timing check goes, it is a great idea if you have a guy who knows what he is doing. If not sure, and your bike is running well, you could wait a bit till you find someone you like.
10. When your suspension is at the specialists, you might want to see if heavier springs for spirited riding or heavier rider weight would be appropriate. The springs cost about $80, but the install is free if the forks are already apart for oil and seals.

That's about it, probably forgot something though.

The way I like to maintain my bike is to do a whole bunch of stuff at big intervals. Once I have the bike on the stands, and the tools out, I just keep going till I go through my list.

Gives me just a little extra confidence when out for a canter, knowing that every little thing has been checked out.

Know what I mean?

Congrat's on the 10,000 (s)miles. My goal is to get 10,000 when my bike is one yr old on Sept 29. Have 6,625 now and a trip scheduled to Taos, NM this weekend. Should put on a few miles there.

Hubby bought the computer program to do our own TPS, so she's already for the trip.

Have fun

Yea I just did my 10,000 mile service, I skipped the TPS, timing check and fork oil. But I did everything else. I was surprised at the wear on the spark plugs. I was expecting to really not need to change them but I was wrong.

Also don't forget to look at your brake pads. my fronts are just about done. And I think I am pretty easy on brakes

I noticed that my drive belt is becoming very dry and almost maybe some small cracking in between the cogs. Is their a product to prevent from drying out. Also if I bring it to the dealership think they will swap it out under warrenty.

Sslow, at 5'3" and 120# (28" inseam)I'm still on the balls of my feet but it works. Have been adjusting the suspension at times as I get a bit more experienced on the bike.

Did have the low seat customized to make it a bit softer (a little higher too) but it hasn't been a problem. It's a great bike (had the SV650 prior to this one).

Got my 15K service not too long ago. Apparently at this service the belt and pulley assembly gets replaced. That got expensive! Ouch! But now Im good to go for another 15K! Put 2300 miles on in the last month or so and shes been running like a top!
