This is a repeat of a thread in the Knowledge board, but I need this answer right away, so I'll post it here as well. I went to the dealership to get a new set of plugs for my '03 XB9R. I have HD 10R12A in there now, as recommended by the service manual. The dealership gave me a Buell-labeled plug, B12P. Will this work? Did the dealership give me the wrong plugs? Will the gap be the same, or can I trust the pre-set gap? I sure don't want to re-install these things again. It's a pain in the ass. | ||

I am sorry that I do not know if you got the "right" plug. Buying generic items at a Harley Parts counter is a luxury I do not allow myself: it's too expensive and my pain tolerance is low now a days. In case of doubt, I would fit a pair of Denso Iridium IXU24 plugs. They are better and probably cheaper than any Buell plug, very long lasting, and hard to foul. You are right, changing plugs is a pain, might just as well use the best ones. The Densos are widely available. | ||

Update: I called the HD shop just to make sure, and they've assured me these plugs will work. So, back to the bike. | ||

I never trust a "pre-gapped" plug. I always check them & gap them if needed prior to installation. | ||

I would maybe reconfirm those plug numbers, I did my plugs less then a week ago. And the guy behind the counter had to check various books, something about the part number has changed a few times. But I am looking at the boxes right now and they are plug number 10R12A, and part number 32335-04. both numbers are printed on the box. so maybe call up and use that part number and see if they have that on the shelf. PS good luck with those plugs, the front one is not too bad, but that back one is a bitch | ||

I put them in, and the bike fired right up. I'm going for a short test run. The bike has been bogging down and hesitating. The original plugs looked clean, so I don't think I've solved the problem. What the heck - the bike has a new set of plugs, at least. | ||

I dont remember having a hard time changing the spark plugs at all. I installed the buell pro series plugs at 10,000. the original plugs were still good actually. the rear plug was a bit carbon/oil fowled though. | ||

Well, after running the bike around town and having the same bogging and hesitation, I dropped it off at the local HD shop. They said it's probably the temperature sensor. So, when the part comes in, I hope to be out riding soon. |
