So I bought the really cool looking front pulley cover from Trojan horse, and i was really excited to put it on. Ive always liked the way the old Ducati's have the drive pulleys exposed, and saw I could do the same to the Buell.
So when I got it in, I pull off the old cover, and my stock pulley is rusted!! I dont want to show off a rusted pulley, so does anybody know where I could get a really nice anodized pulley? If all else fails, ill just have to get the stock one again. But figured someone would know where I could get something cool looking

Thanks!!!

do not get a new stock one it will do the same. in all honesty the one you have was probably rusted when you bought it. they are all like that and it takes the slightest bit of moisture to do it so i'd say seek other options....good luck

Not to worry.

I had the same problem and it really bothered me.

I just sanded the rust off with some emory cloth, and then masked the pulley, and painted it with Premium Decor High Heat Spray paint # PD 1550 Aluminum paint.

I must say, I didn't expect much, but to my surprise, it still looks good a year later.

+1 to G-j.

A good sanding and a coat of high heat anti-rust paint usually does the trick.
Just the nature of cast iron.: ): )

i scuffed mine up when it was rusty, and used some high temp black stove paint i had laying around. seems to be holding well although it is getting a speck on it again after a year or so, but i do ride rain or snow plenty of times of the time.

Jason,

Here is a shot I took yesterday, just for record purposes, sorry it isn't very good, and it is raining right now, so I don't feel like taking a better one:-)

My work log shows that the sprocket was painted on December Seventh, 2006. I sanded off the rust and then just masked off the chain and everything around it, and the round center and gave it a coat or two of the High Heat aluminum. Still looks ok, not something that one really looks at.

The sprocket cover is the discontinued Drummer item.
The 20 tooth front sprocket was supplied by Hal's as part of their Chain Conversion swing arm kit.

+1 to G_j ... i sanded, masked, and shot a few quick, light coats of flat black Rustoleum. still looks great months later.
