I bought an American cold air induction airbox cover and upon further inspection of the inner air box (an 03 XB) I noticed that the plastic base could be tapped out and may supply the rear cylinder with some air flow. has anybody tried this? Pros/Cons? | ||

Yes... It could work the other way around and put hot air up into the airbox. I would think an induction outer cover would funnel some cool air down to the rear head around the airbox anyway. | ||

I did exactly that with mine a year and a half-two years ago. It has worked fine for me, and my bike has the full fairing to boot. It does sometimes run it's fan for 30-60seconds more than other Buells I'm with, but it IS a high compression (11.43:1) 1250 so I'm actually surprised it doesn't run hotter than it does! I ended up putting aside the cold air air box cover and using a stock plastic one with the fuel fill trim removed though for durability/scratch resistance though since I always need a tank bag for my folding cane. BTW the City-X "X" works great for stabilizing tank bags and eliminating scratches from the bag. | ||

I was lucky enough to score one from Al at American Sport Bike that came off of a cracked translucid airbox cover. They come up once in a while, so keep asking if you want one and they will surface either through broken covers, or through people removing them for a "cleaner" look. | ||
