my new carbon fiber RT-1 is coming in on friday and after much deliberation and reading the american sport bike exhaust shoot out i hope i made the right decision. anyone who's running one let me know how you like yours. i'm so excited for the city x not to sound like a lawn mower anymore!!!! | ||

I'm torn. I did the same as you and based my decision off of the shoot out, and agree that the performance is good. The problem I had was that the L pipe that goes between the header and the muffler would not mount properly. I had to spend quite a bit of time altering it so the bracket would line up with the mounting location on the motor. Then I had a pretty severe exhaust leak. It wouldn't go away no matter where I put the clamp or how tight it was. I finally tried the stock clamp and tightened the hell out of it. The leak is about 95% gone now. The clamp provided by Jardine is crappy anyway. If you like really fricken loud, then you will love the sound. I wear fitted earplugs every time I ride because I'd rather not damage my eardrums. | ||

I wanted a CF Jardine but after some reading I'll probably get an alum ... seems the CF units are pretty breakable. | ||

Go the Aluminium, Unless ya can Afford the Co$t n Risk of Shattering a CF Unit.. I'd of Gone CF Meself Actually, but I Infrequently Go Off-Road and I had a Feeling I May Just &*#@ One Proper on a Rock or Similar, so the Alum was the Choice. Bloody Fine thing, AND CHEAP (to replace). N x | ||

I know a lot of guys didn't like Jardines on the Buells initially, but I love my aluminum one and don't mind repacking it either. I just repacked it last month put a thousand miles on the bike, took it back apart and to my surprise it was actually all still there. So other than the 30 bucks for packing from Jardine here and there (Yes there are other brands and tricks out there) its not too bad. Yes I know there are all sorts of other products and tricks out there but I figured I would throw the stuff from Jardine in there. | ||

i must say overall i'm very impressed with the jardine so far tomorrows ride will tell me more the pipe itself is beautiful the L pipe took a little grinding before it went on correctly but i've never had an aftermarket pipe of any kind just fall into place, so i expected it. the spoiler braces fit pretty well without too much tweaking.....and the sound oh my god the sound is incredible....perfect!!! |
