I finally put down a deposit today on an arctic white (the fast color) '08 Bolt. It's scheduled to ship around 8/21.

My first bike was an '04 Bolt and even though I've owned quite a few more comfortable and technically advanced bikes, I keep coming back to Buell - this will be my 4th.

I guess I suffer from battered wife syndrome.

Congrats on the new Bolt. I'm comming back into the fold from 3 tube Buells and a ST1300 (I'm keeping the ST).

Hope to have my 04' Bolt in two weeks.

Congrats.

I love my 2004 XB12R w/ Arctic White body work and 03 gray rims. I thought it was funny they came out with the white again.

The new lower end on the motor is very attractive, including the upgrades.

...and a ST1300 (I'm keeping the ST).

I don't blame you for keeping the ST. I rode one for a few months and was impressed with its quickness and smoothness.

I will be following suit this weekend after the wedding. The improvements they made this year plus the cost of ownership compared to the Daytona 675 I was considering made my mind up. I will be happy with either color.

Heck the ST only has 75k miles on it and 4 years left on warranty, barely broke in ;+}.

Besides it's much more comfortable 2 up and can carry a lot more.

A buddy of mine just bought an ST. Really nice bike. If the chick I'm seeing now woudln't rather have her own bike I'd want one for 2-up stints.

I WILL be keeping the all white 98 S1W, but I will most likely have to seel the Harley.

LOL, after seeing that the newest Buell isn't passenger friendly, I'm selling my S3T and my S1W to buy an ST.

I have to wait 2 months to trade my CityX in on the new White Bolt. I'll catch up eventually.

Well, things are coming together... My eBay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-BMW-R1200ST-wi th-factory-luggage_W0QQitemZ140141449288QQihZ004QQ categoryZ49977QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem was successful so now it looks like I'm going to be bikeless for about a month. My dealer has a Black '08 Bolt due in about 2 weeks but I'm holding out. I get wood every time I look at the picture of that Arctic White Firebolt.

I'm glad I got an '03 9R in white. Who knew the color would return? It sure looks nice on the '08 12R.
I put a translucent blue airbox cover on mine. It definitely grabs attention. I like to watch people approach the bike, look it over, double take, then bend down and stare at the "tank." It looks like I strapped an old iMac on my bike!
BTW, 12Rs never came out in arctic white before, correct?

Congrats TowJam. BTW, did you discuss with your dealer the fact that you'll be getting a bike with defective headlights?
Will he replace them when they fail? Or worse...CATCH FIRE?

Per an offline conversation I've had with Court, it's my understanding that the headlight issue has been fixed for the '08 Firebolts. I don't have any info about the fix being made available to previous year models but I would assume that Buell is going to make it right.

Court, feel free to chime in.

All i'm saying TowJam is that you've got the benefit of being an informed consumer.
You should make it clear to your dealer that these defective headlights are unacceptable.Court's comments regarding a solution is HEARSAY.He is NOT a BMC official.DO NOT trust his word alone on such a significant purchase.

As are ALL conversations on badweb, including the myriad of folks posting anonymously.

I go to great lengths to include in most my e-mails word to the effect . . .

. . . . I am not an employee or either Harley-Davidson or Buell. I have no authority official, unofficial, implied or expressed to speak or act on their behalf, make any representations or commit them to anything. The FIRST point of contact, in all matters, between a Buell owner and Buell is your AUTHORIZED BUELL DEALER".

Clear enough?

Questions?

I am a construction worker.

That's pure internet "chatter" and NOTHING more than personal opinion. There is no basis in fact for a word in that statement.

You'd do well to qualify the limits of your knowledge, competency and authority as well as I have.

Ever considered a career in construction?

: )

Are you calling me a Dum-Dum?

No offense Court,i do hold you in high regard.

EEwwww, not a chance.I do have it tough in screw machining. But at least it's airconditioned here.90+ degrees outside right now too.

You wouldn't deny there's a problem of course. And BMC will certainly stand by their product but, TowJam's lights WILL fail barring a solution.I know, you said it'd be in place by August. So what is it?

Ducxl you need to head over to the Jeep boards. they have at least 3 fatalities from something they they say is not a problem worthy of a recall. This headlight thing is a tempest in a teapot compared to that.
