Thanks Xb12mel! I've been looking for this '08 HD University documentation and was beginning to think that it may not show up this year since Harley apparently got pretty torqued off about the '06 and '07 editions getting posted to the Internet. Aside from the 1125, it's good to see the XB line getting some much needed under-the-cover upgrades. | ||

These are really quite elaborate changes. If it wasn't for the massive announcement of the 1125R, there would be quite a bit more buzz about these changes. They have really listened to the owners and developed fixes for many of the common complaints about XB's. No more TPS, no need for timing adjustments, higher redline, a MUCH needed improvement to the fuel injection system, etc... Makes my '04 look obsolete.... | ||

What I FInd VERY interesting is that the new pistons, its says will retrofit, yah!!! Higher REdline for all 12's! | ||

Wouldn't the ECM need something done to it to allow a higher redline? Not sure if its a simple press a button, type in 7100 then your good to go. | ||

In fact, there are a number of drivetrain components that have been upgraded (cams, oiling system, flywheel, crank pin, etc.) that probably support the higher redline. | ||

Think about rod bearing speed on a 1.25" crank pin vs a 1.5" crank pin. The larger crank pin will slow down the bearing speeds and hold a good bit more. The new oil pump setup will also do much better for more RPM as the oil pressures have significantly increased!! All in the name of reliability. |
