What in the?

I'm guessing the previous owner started a project that he was not capable of doing, ran out of cash, or both.

How much did you pay for this?

I see a really nice bike in that pile.

That adjustable, long wheelbase swing arm looks like a Hals or Innovative. Worth at least a grand as is. You will need some sprockets, and wheel spacers, and brake mounting plate to use it. I would recommend DID ERV3 520 chain.

Looks like you have doubles on suspension: I would sell all of them, and put the money towards a set of Ohlins forks and an aftermarket shock, or send one set off to Grandstand Designs for an upgrade. They also are able to match the Graphite powder coat for the frame.

The frame looks like it should be replaced, but it may not: they are real strong. Maybe you could just fill, paint, and put some pucks on.

You don't really need the all stock fasteners anyway: the ones that go into aluminum, (and that's a lot of them), are best replaced with stainless.

Keep those progress photos coming.

Going to be a track bike or a streeter? If you're going to street it, I would trade the factory race muffler for a Drummer.

What fun!!

PS: In addition to the Service Manual, the Part Book is an absolute must for this kind of project, because in addition to listing all the parts, the exploded views show how the pieces go back together.

Bad news is that they do not list the fasteners by size, and buying them one at a time from Buell is not very cost effective. In addition, one must be aware that some of them are metric and others SAE, and others, like the screws that attach the front rotor, don't seem to be available on the aftermarket.

Here is another idea...................

Since the bike is already apart, why not just sell the parts one at a time on eBay, and with the money, you will probably be able to buy a used Buell that's running, with some money left over for upgrades.

Save yourself a lot of time and money, most likely.

i already have a few running buells, and more on the way...

for what i have into this 5000 mile bike i have that much in extra's with it. that extra suspension is already built by walt sipp for the guy that started turning this into a track bike the chain swingarm was from walt sipp too. the person the suspension was built for and i weigh same so it worked out good!

mostly all the fasteners are back in the holes they came out of. plus i AM the buell parts guy so i can get whatever i need at a decent price.

yes i will probably do something about the race pipe and get ANOTHER drummer but im not in to big a hurry to worry about that.

the best part of those pics is there is actually more than a whole bike there and that pile of parts isn't that intimidating.....imagine stripping apart a gixxer or cbr oh what a pile of parts you'd have......

i am still trying to figure out what direction i'm going to go with it.

i have been debating on painting the frame, swingarm, wheels, triple clamps, fairing support and maybe even the forks. i dont feel like putting it all together stock fast, and then regret not having done that stuff so first i need to make up my mind...

Hey Rice

Are those race rain tires I see in the picture? Are they new or used? If your not going to use them I may be interested.

you should name it Christine (the movie car) and it's red too.

look at the top two pics...the camera flash makes it look like the headlight is still going, even though it is in pieces...maybe you should go out and rub on it and talk to it and then go back later and see if it put itself back together.

seriously though, good luck with it, look forward to a progress report and seeing the finished results.
