Guys, First off I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. Please direct me to a thread if so.

My problem is that whenever I fill the tank, my 06 XB9SX seems to surge for about 10 miles or so. Otherwise it runs great. Is there an explanation for this? Just wondering since I am taking my Buell in for what appears to be a failing cooling fan on Tuesday.

thanks for your help.

are you sure it is a direct relation to a full tank of gas?? or will it also happen after you shut down the bike and then restart within 5 mins (length of time it takes to fill up) I am pretty sure these bikes will be in open loop (running from factory comp parameters) until a pre determenind run time and operation temp. Also you said you fan is not working? does it come on after you shut your bike off?? if not you might be getting some High temps once restarted and this might be cause the bike to run weird until the bike gets some more air running through it and cool down a bit.

not real sure just bouncing some ideas around

that used to happen to me also. but i used to top of the bike all teh way to the fuell cap. i was assuming there wasnt enought air in the tank and was causing a vacume as teh fuel pump tryed to feed teh engine. i now fill it to the ring just below the fuell cap. never had a problem since

Thanks fellas. I appreciate the help. Deflated, I think you may be onto something there. Let me try that out. I do tend to try to top off.
