Will Buell continue to make the Air cooled models? I am seeing people say the 1125R will be around the current XB price point. If they do keep the Air Cooled models there is no way they will sit side by side with the 1125 at the same MSRP.

we were told at the factory that they have reworked the engines. They did some work to the pistons and some others things. They said they will run smoother and that you should be able to get more rpms out of them. We watched them dyno a 08 12s and it sounded really smooth. Plus the timming cover is diferent now. So I think the air cooled xb's are safe for a little while.

From what I have read the 1125R will be around the price of current XB's. If that is the case the Air cooled models ahould drop drastically in price no?

Is the new Buell gonna make our current bikes obsolite? I don't think so, fact is it's still the biike I bought it to be.

If you are really worried about value put your aircooled bike in storage for the next 25 to 30 years then see what it's value is.

At this point- 9:30am EST, July 8, 2007 - the price has yet to be made public. I suspect it'll cost more, but the price is all speculative right now.
I also think Buell will sell every one they make. If there's a Buell that could attract riders from other sport bike makes, this is it.

The 1125 is a great bike, but so is the XB's.

AS much as I want the new 1125r, and to show it off, the XB9 is more practical for my style of riding. Mostly commuting and town riding. I think I'll keep my XB9 a few years until I graduate and then look again.

I think people are getting caught up on the fact that this is the new Buell. All of them. Its just a different model. If you like what the XB offers, great. If you were among the crowd looking into 1098's or other more race oriented bikes, then now you have a Buell choice.

And with new and improved XB's. I think eveyone should be just peachy!

I'd sure like to hear from those at homecoming about the changes to the air cooled engine. What specifically and why and how much can be retrofitted back to current bikes.

Ducati has been successful at selling air and water cooled bikes for many years now.

I see no reason why buell couldn't

I'm curious about the blast, Every company needs a entry level bike..

Wouldn't it be a branch?
Air cooled over here water cooled over there and the new Blast based on one lung of the 1125R!

And BMW too. And Harley-Davidson too. And now Buell too! : ) I don't see how anyone can seriously find anything wrong with there being another good motorcycle on the market. I too would be disappointed if the air-cooled models went away. I doubt they will. In fact, I'm sure they will continue to be improved. Sounds like some of the XBRR tech is trickling down to them for '08. That's a good thing, yes? : )

Have you guys noticed that the Blast isn't on the Buell homepage, you have to dig a bit to find it...

Ya know...I didn't notice that I noticed until you said something. I'm guessing there will also be a new XB thumper with more displacment. Harley needs to keep that bike around for their VERY successful Riders Edge program.

Like Ducati, Buell now has a great line up of bikes. I think the XBR will go away leaving the Uly, TT, and S models similar to the Duc Multistrada and Monster line.

>>The 9 motor is only in the CityX for 08<<

And those blue rims kick Ash! I want some! New colors only or not...they still threw us a bone...even with the effort put into the new one. I am anxious to see an 'S' version of an 1125 in the coming years.

I gotta say...I am entering the corporate workforce from the military and I really dig the way Erik and Co run the show. We are a fortunate lot in that our opinion and desires find an audience quickly and willingly with the right people...I say good job and thanks for not forgetting the Xb crowd.

According to the press release for the 2008 thunderstorm engine it has a few enhancements. The one enhancement that I paid close attention to was the New DDFI 3 controller.

FROM PRESS RELEASE:

DDFI 3 actively controls and monitors the TPS (throttle position sensor), IAC (idle air control), and timing. DDFI 3 automatically zeros the TPS and adjusts fuel metering for smoother idle, eliminating service intervals and reducing the cost of ownership.

OOOOH and I should have waited a year, of course you can say that every year because the next year models will always be better. But damn, something a long time coming, no more TPS resets. I wonder if I can upgrade the 2007 bikes to this new controller?

New FI system? Are you serious? If I had only waited a year I may have had a fuel injection system that doesn't cough, sputter, backfire, and stall! DDFI 3 should be installed on the 07s as a recall fix.

Where can I read this press release?
