Beach,
The CF looks great. Are your plastics painted or dyed? They appear a lovely shade of orange.

I just can't bring myself to spend 130$ EACH for things that are gonna dry out n fade.
all the heat and sun I don't care HOW impregnated with resin that cloth was those WILL fade).
130$ for the set n ya but not each...
They do look cool though.
I didn't think they would fit exactly but your pic shows they do...

My plastics are factory color (racing red). I think its just a camera flash thing making them look a tint of orange. As far as the CF inserts go.... The reason I got them was because the stock black plastic inserts were so faded and looked terrible. The fitment is great and popped right in. As far as the CF fading, I think it will hold up a lot better than the plastic. The only plastic on my bike that was faded were the stock inserts. Everything else on the bike looks in great condition. Buell must use some kind of cheaper materials for the stock inserts. Because those are the ONLY faded pieces.

I've replaced all of the black plastics on my Lightning Long. American Sport Bike provided everything but the rear hugger (which I got from Trojan). Looks GREAT! Now I'm eying those perforated aluminum heel plates...

Be nice if someone made CF replacements for the clutch and primary inspection covers (hint hint)...

Hey Ducxl......

Done, done and done! Only things NOT CF are the front fairing, airbox cover and tail section. EVERYTHING else that can be done, is done. Checkout my profile.

"the stock black plastic inserts were so faded and looked terrible"
It's from the heat of the lights and sun.
Same thing WILL happen to those eventually...

Not too sure about that Troll. These have a gel clearcoat over the CF and I think they will hold up a lot better than the stockers. We'll find out.

wax them with a good wax with UV protection, it will help quite a bit.

They most certainly will fade, over time anyway. Not trying to be smart in the least but I own one of the 250 CF extremes Buell made in '99 and it is very faded. Believe me I have taken every precaution to help them out but it is inevitable that they will fade. The under seat pan from American Sport Bike is holding up the best but it of course is under the bike out of direct sunlight. I think they look good but are they just covers or do they replace the stock plastic? I know they're light, probably about the weight of a pringle, but isn't that the whole idea of CF to reduce the weight of a vehicle?

Speaking of... has anyone seen the CF wheels made by the co. that makes the SSSwingarm? Those would be sweet if one could sink about 5g's into the wheels alone.

Just my $0.02

"the stock black plastic inserts were so faded and looked terrible"
I hear ya. But there are products out there that can do a remarkable job of restoring faded flat black paint and black plastic parts to a like-new finish. Adams has a VRT dressing that leaves a semi-gloss and an "In & Out" spray that does wonders for black painted engines and black plastics.
