Is it okay to replace the stock air cleaner with K&N or Buell Race Cleaner while keeping stock exhaust and ECM? I have always heard power gains are possible with cleaner change but I keep reading cautions on leaning the fuel ratio with higher air flow. It seems that this caution is always associated with cleaner AND exhaust but I hate to assume. Thanks!

I ran this configuration for a season and went back to the paper/stock filter.

The engine will run a bit lean/hot (evidenced by sparkplugs).
I don't think dangerously so, but the risk was not worth it for me.

I have an 03. De-snorkling it smoothed up the lower revs enough to satisfy me...

Simply my opinion. More will surely follow.

I ran like that for a while. I wouldn't recommend doing it for a long time though. A better plan would be to wait until you have all the pieces.
