2004 XB9SX - what happens to the engine if the neutral sensor fails? If the engine is running, will it stall?

Nothing really. Mine failed the only thing You had to do was pull in the clutch to start and it would not run with the kickstand down. A new one was about $13.The hardest part of changing it was grinding OD of the socket to fit in the recess where it is located.5/8 if I remeber right very easy fix. 03xb9s

Well, mine failed when I was riding and the engine shut down. I was doing about 65 so my rear tire was obliterated.

Wow shut down!

My neutral sensor went out 2 times in my M2. It seem to be nothing more than an indicator for the rider.

That with my GP shift patten it was my anti-theft device. No one could find neutral and they could find first.

No one could ride it. except me.

umm shutting down the engine at speed will not lock up the rear wheel. now if the engine locked up than that would be a different story

Nick,

Check your clutch engagement sensor/switch. It may not be working properly.
