Ive got 30,000+ miles on my XB12... it runs fine but I think I should go ahead and rebuild before something gives when I dont want it to. I feel that while im in there, might as well do something cool, right? Any recomendations on parts to use such as valves, pistons, rings, rods, etc. And where to get them?? Im kinda on a budget of about 2,000... so nothing too expensive Thanks |

I am doing my top end and installing a 1250 big bore kit on my Uly. NRHS does a stage 1 head port and rebuild and also sells the 1250 bb kit. |

Robert, I'd recommend any of our performance shop sponsors for headwork and other performance upgrades. Give any of them a call and talk to them about what you want. They won't steer you wrong. First upgrade or rebuild I'd do would be the oil pump drive gear. If the bike is running well, the top end would stay put. |

1250 kit for me too. Simple swap of cyls and pistons for an XB12, if I understand correctly, though I'm "splitting the cases" to install XB12 crank in my XB9 (in traditional hot rod Bore & Stroke fashion). I'll also need XB12 headers + throttle body + ... As Blake mentions, replacement of oil drive gear is part of the project. Same for the new front engine mount design. Al from American Sport Bike mentioned a fuel map already developed for 1250/stock heads/open airbox/Micron... and if it exists, then that's what I'll use. Treadmarks, sounded like Al was concerned about maxxing out the stock injectors' capacity for 1250 with head work... you got a plan to get around this? Rob - interested in what you choose. Engine project will be winter for me also, during our typical 5 months of cold Oregon rain. |

Just make sure someone else has worked out fueling for whatever mod you do. |
