OK,

Here is the deal. When I start the 9 everything is cool. I have no trouble lights when the bike is at idle. When I try to engage the clutch the check engine light comes on and the bike will stall out if I try to fully engage the clutch. I can feather the clutch a little, but that's about it.

Here is what I know. I know my battery is probally toast. If the bike sits a while and I turn power on my clock reads 1:00. The bike had a frame change this winter by my local HD dealer. So they had the bike ripped apart.

If anybody can help that would be cool........otherwise I think I am going to have to take her to the HD dealer.

Not to sound like odd, but is your kickstand down?

It's your kickstand switch. Only the 03's had em I believe. I bypassed mine. Just cut the wires and solder the leads back together and heat shrink. Haven't had any problems in over a year with that fix! Also try looking at your clutch switch and make sure the lip is engaging the switch button fully. I have seen them become offset so as not to engage properly. Hope that helps you out.

Kick stand is up. I was suspecting that switch. I'll try the jumper fix. If that doesn't work I'll go to the clutch next.

I had the same problem once on my S1. It was a maladjusted clutch cable. Not saying that is your issue, but worth a look.

I don't believe that a faulty clutch safety switch would cause the symptom you report. A malfunctioning clutch switch would cause you to have to put the bike into neutral in order to start it.

Who said anything about a clutch safety switch? I was referring to the cable itself.
