Q 1--- only when needed. 1k and maybe 10-15k later inspected. Q 2--- takes me about 20 min. the motor has to be at 320 deg. this takes most of time (to warm up). | ||

Grisman, My first indication is unusual idle. Haven't had to do mine in quite a while. | ||

Yeah poor idle or stalling on cold starts has been the symtoms for mine (which I suppose would be due to the idle anyway). A good dealer can have it done in about 5min minute if they know your coming. | ||

Hmm, how about these symptoms: take off at a stop sign, WOT, check engine light comes on. Now under 3k rpm it runs rough, check engine light stays on. 9k on bike, TPS might never have been reset (I have serious doubts about the dealer that did my 1k). | ||

Before I did the TPS reset (I have the gizmo (okay, the software and a laptop + a cable)) the throttle was very touchy off idle, difficult to paddle through traffic. The TPS reset solved this issue to a large extent. The thing will not run too well is the TPS sensor and butterfly are out of sync too much. The software can also diagnose a bunch of other problems as well. | ||

5min for a complete and proper TPS reset ? anyho! I would take it to a good dealer. Ask the service writer to have the tech inspect the codes, note were the AFV is now, were the static time is (degree)now, look at the TPS volts are at idle, also while there in there have them look at the fuel pressure. have them record it for you. based on this the tech should have a good idea in the direction to go for a proper and timely pin-point diagnostic. | ||

dont forget to check the plug wires! Mine were corroded and rusted, but then I have been unseasonally abusing the bike ;) Damn MUD |
