I made my own out of duct insulation materials for about $3. Works great.

The one above is from al @ asb.
I have the 6inch version and just recently (after the 10k service) I noticed a new weird rattling sound.
Looked down and one of the screws for it was gone.
I dunno if they did it during the service or it just worked itself out.
Found a couple replacement screws and the one that was missing is stripped,So I either have to drill/tap it to the next size up or just run it with one screw.

Do you mean exhaust heat shields or the under seat heat shields?

Buelltroll: Is the American Sport Bike one long enough to keep from melting your pants on the pipe? I've ruined two pairs now on my Uly and am looking for a solution.

I dunno I've never melted my pants with it on there so....
Then again I never melted my pants without it on there either....
It does get pretty much as hot as the headers(I found out trying the new screw)so....

Is the exhaust shield meant to keep pants from touching the pipe only or can you tell a difference from the heat radiating to your right leg).

Is there a version without holes that would trap more heat but not is much as header wrap does?

Since the exhaust header shield is connected directly to the header with aluminum, heat is conducted easily into the shield itself.
I installed header wrap around the pipe under the shield to prevent this easy heat transfer.
The shield is now very effective.
