How does the STT suspension differ from, say, the Long's suspension? Is there a difference in the physical length, or is it the internals? Would it throw off the geometry if you swapped the two? I'm just daydreaming at the moment, wondering what could be done to my Ss to make it a little more dirt-worthy.

The TT suspension is longer than the Lightning Long when extended, the same when bottomed, so you won’t gain any ground clearance when the suspension bottoms out. The TT spring rates and damping are optimized for a single rider on the TT (still can work 2-up, but optimized for one). Internals are not interchangeable, the TT as a newer style of preload adjuster. The TT is plusher, but also has great damping for chassis control. If you changed both front and rear you would have the same geometry as the TT. Don’t forget the sidestand, since the TT is taller, the leg is a little longer than the Lightning Long.

The Ulysses suspension is longer when extended and when bottomed than the Lightning Long and the TT and would gain you about an inch ground clearance when fully bottomed out. Same story as TT parts, you would have to change forks and shock, and sidestand.

I am not sure how I feel about a liquid cooled Buell.

I race CCS and my XB has aftermarket suspension, slipper clutch, quick shifter and a motor built by Hals. This bike is very competitive in 5 classes and capable of wining a regional championship in all 5 classes with only 106 rear wheel hp. I like being fast on something that not everyone gets.

I am not sure what classes the new bike will be in but it sounds like it will be in classes with some very serious competition like GSXRs, RR & R1s. See for me the Buell is a race bike. I do not ride one on the street and from what I have heard about the new bike it seems far away from what I love about the XB. That does not mean that I can not fall in love with a new bike.

On the street it is easy to change bikes. Not so easy on track. I know guys who rode the XBRR and it took alot of track time to get faster on it than their XBs. And these are very similar bikes besides the motor.

I hope what they are about to reveal is not a copy of the Ducati 1098 or an Aprilla. Those are great bikes but if I wanted one I would already be riding one.

Lets hope this new bike still has some of the concepts of the XB with just a little more of everything except weight. If it does I will be first in line to buy and take it to the track.

Can't wait till the 8th.

Anony,
Hold on there, so I CAN'T put the SS rear shock and front springs on the TT to bring it down one inch? Flarg. What about putting the SS shocks and springs in a Uly? I am short 5-6 with 29 inseam, I kilt a cityx runner off road, I need more ground clearance, but I still need that bike to come down some for rough road ridin. Let me know on the suspension swaps as it will affect my next impending purchase. Thanks
