Now for the boring part. I'm wondering about STOCK exhaust. Here's the deal. My bike came with a SAWED OFF exhaust. I'm concerned about the lack of back pressure (and I'm not crazy about the extra noise either) I'm thinking it's REALLY got the ECU flummoxed. There's not much low end and it doesn't really come on till around 3500, unlike stock that is velvety smooth from 2k up. I've posted a "WTB" thread in the classifieds and I'm tracking a few stock cans of ebay. Are there any differences in the exhaust's for the Lightning Long? (I discovered the ugly truth about the luggage by not reading the fine print. POOP!) It is possible to purchase any ol' stock can and be happy? Should I go aftermarket? (at this point I'd much rather spend $50 on something quiet that works well than drop $300 on thumpy thing that kills the low end) HELP! |

Depending on how "sawed off" your muffler (?) is, I bet Kevin Drum could get ya fixed up. Have a look: http://www.kdfab.com/drummer%20intro.htm Otherwise, used take-offs aren't hard to find, and often $100ish. As far as I know, yours uses a garden-variety XB12 muffler. |
