I have a 12R with the buell race kit. I was riding today and started hearing something that sounded like vales rattling and then it lost power all of a sudden. Looked down and the flang that holds the header on was wrapped around the header. The bolts that hold the flang on where gone. they had rattled themselves loose and came off during riding. Has this happened to anyone ? What to do to prevent it from happening again?

Were they completly gone, or did they break off? I have had 3 total break off, one up front and 2 in the back, actually the right side one in the back has broken off twice.
I have been told the mounting of the exhaust has something to do with it, but... mine was mounted by the factory and HD/Buell certified mechanics always. So, go figure

no i dont think they snapped of they were just gone , as if someone had taken them off. it has been making the rattling sound as if it was the valves since ive had the bike . this is the third time that ive had to take the bike back to the shop for something being wrong with the bike , and ive just bought it june 1st, i traded my xb9r for a new 12r , i should have kept the 9r.

One of my header bolts just broke off. Had to have the dealer drill it out and re-tap it for a bigger bolt. Of course
under warranty. -XB9SX-2006
