well what can I say about my Lightning?

other than a magnificently designed front brake -- ZTL and all -- that... when a poor brake lever swap is performed... can completely seize and generate a MOST terrifying stoppie @ 40mph that just does not roll

or perhaps the nearly mental connection of the rider-throttle-rear wheel... and through a slippery "stream" bed how a sudden -- but, honestly, expected -- surge of "go-get-em" torque can sling a guy into a low side and wet his electrics.

But let me testify also to how solidly the XB is built. During that... fortunately-not-fatal endo, how the bike crashed down on itself and all was lost was a mirror, brake lever, and a few scratches on my exposed header pipes.
And how, despite the flood of my systems caused by that slip-slide, the beautiful bike brought me home safe, if not a lot frustrated and dried itself out within two days.
And what's more, she still runs smooth as glass and responds with a grunt to her open-airbox mods with just a twist of the wrist.

I really love my Buell. I've put it through hell as... not quite a novice rider, but not someone accustomed to the torque and response of a twin. Yet it still carries me with dignity. And I'll be damned if I say I don't love the attention it draws.

This forum is amazing... and the bikes we are here to honour are outstanding.

Kudos to Erik.

And if there are any Buell riders in the Harker Heights/Killeen TX area, I'd love to catch ya sometime and talk shop.
